  • Who is more important, your mother or your children?

Just had a row with my husband because he openly admitted that his mother is more important than our children. I am so upset and offended by this, I think your children should always come first.

  • At wits end with 21 month old?

My 21 month old is driving me insane. He's always been clingy, but it's reached the point where he wants to be held constantly. Normal for a newborn, not for a toddler. Every time I put him down he screams and cries. His 5 year old brother hardly gets any time. How can I ease this horrendous clinginess? I don't mind cuddling him. But I need to get some things done in the house!

  • Can a breastfed baby 'recover' from one bottle of formula?

This is simply a curiosity as what's done is done and the baby - my oldest son - is now 4.5 years old! But when he was born we had feeding problems and at 4 days old the hospital gave him a bottle of formula. I didn't know then about the virgin gut and I wonder, was one bottle enough to ruin his gut flora, or not?

  • Baby led weaning - breakfast ideas?

We're doing baby led weaning with our youngest, who is 6.5 months old and it's going great, but I'm running out of suitable breakfasts. At the moment he's just having toast and sometimes some fruit, but he's stopped eating as much - I think he's getting bored. I did try porridge, but he doesn't even like being spoon fed - it just ended with a mess! Any ideas for nice breakfasts?

  • How do you cope with the sleep deprivation?

My almost 6 month old still wakes every 2 hours and I'm starting to get really run down. I can't sleep when he does because I have a 4 year old too, who obviously needs supervising! I just need some tips on surviving until his sleep improves!

He just can't stay awake any longer!

He's exclusively breastfed and about 22lbs.

  • How do you explain a secular Christmas?

My oldest will be a month shy of 4 years old this Christmas and this year, he really knows what is happening. However, I'm struggling to explain a secular christmas in a way he can understand. He spends time with family already so telling him it's about being with family just doesn't seem to sink in! I just don't want him to think it's all about presents.

  • Can meeting milestones early cause any problems?

Just curious. My 4.5 month old is meeting his physical milestones very early. he had head control by 6 weeks, his first tooth at 4 months and has just started to sit unassisted for about 10 seconds at a time. I was just wondering if things like sitting early can cause any development or posture issues later on, or if I should just let him get on with it!

  • Play dough that can be kept OR baked?

I want a play dough that will stay soft when stored in an airtight container, but can be baked hard when desired. Does such a thing exist? Or is it two different doughs? Thanks.

  • How long should vaccine reaction last?

This is my second child, but I've never seen a reaction like this before. My nearly 4 month old had this third and final (until school anyway) set of vaccinations last wednesday. He was fine at first, but on saturday developed a fever and just cried and cried. Stopped sleeping... he was awake for 7 hours with just a 10 min nap.

On sunday a doctor checked him, but just said to keep giving baby paracetamol/ibuprofen.

He's still not right. At night he's waking every 2 hours again, instead of 4. When I lie him down to nurse him back to sleep he just screams. He's not feeding properly during the day either. How long is this going to last? Everyone is miserable!

  • Mothers of big babies, do people expect more of your child?

My youngest son is 3.5 months old and already 18lbs. Because he looks older, people seem surprised when he actually acts his age!

  • Mothers who breastfed bigger babies, when did they start going longer between feeds?

My second son is a big boy, he weighs approximately 13lbs at 5 weeks. I'm exclusively breastfeeding and he usually needs a feed every hour and a half or so. I'm just trying to see when there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!

  • Why do people use gender and sex interchangably?

When they're not the same thing? Is it that people really don't know the difference, or is it just that people think 'sex' is a dirty word?

  • Copper Rasbora question?

I added 6 copper rasbora to my 60L with a betta yesterday and seem to have stressed the betta out... he's got whitespot. Are the rasboras hardy enough to cope with higher temps for a few days?

  • How do you let go of something you've always wanted?

I have a 3 year old son and am 21 weeks pregnant. We found out today we are having another little boy. He's growing well and is healthy, which is fantastic.

However, I'm struggling to let go of the lifelong dream I had of having a daughter. I know healthy babies are the most important thing and I know I will love both my sons completely, but how do I let go of the girl I always imagined?

  • Should I take the extra month?

My second child is due in June. I had been planning to take six months off, but that literally gets me back to work right before Christmas. Would you give up a month of money for an easier return? It's an evening job, so I get to be with the kids in the day anyway.

  • How to best deal with tantrums?

My son is at the 'I am going to have a meltdown if I don't get my own way' stage.

Currently I ignore him when he does this, or send him to his room until he calms down. But is this the best way? I absolutely refuse to give in to tantrums, but is there a better way to diffuse them?
