Baby led weaning - breakfast ideas?

We're doing baby led weaning with our youngest, who is 6.5 months old and it's going great, but I'm running out of suitable breakfasts. At the moment he's just having toast and sometimes some fruit, but he's stopped eating as much - I think he's getting bored. I did try porridge, but he doesn't even like being spoon fed - it just ended with a mess! Any ideas for nice breakfasts?

Don't spoon feed if you want a good 'BLW' experience...

He may be bored, but that's fine, even good -- he really doesn't need much at 6.5mo, one meal a day is fine, and ingesting minimal if any of the meal is fine. Don't coax it in or anything; follow his lead on whether he's hungry, trust that he will eat it if he is.

Pretty much anything you are eating is fair game -- omelettes, beans, anything, and breakfast doesn't have to be "breakfast food"; he doesn't know about the cereals-eggs-etc cultural restrictions for the meal; he'll be good with leftover pizza.

Toast with a yoghurt "dip" is a good BLW breakfast, though. Offer him his own spoon in a few months, and oatmeal will work well then as it sticks to the spoon well (also try refried beans, yoghurt thickened with wheat germ, super-cheesy tiny pasta).

If you're not adverse to a bit of mess, yoghurt with muesli and fruit is a good choice, my daughter loves it! She started getting that at 10 months of age so has a little bit more control than your son would.

Since she started crawling I've had to move the breakfast cereals to a higher shelf in the pantry, yesterday when I was loading the dishwasher I turned around and she had pulled the muesli out of the pantry, opened the box and was shovelling it into her mouth.

    Tons of fruit choices

    Dry cereal

    Waffles

    Pancakes

    Toast

Eggs - cook it like an omlette and then cut it up, it will be sturdier
