How long should vaccine reaction last?

This is my second child, but I've never seen a reaction like this before. My nearly 4 month old had this third and final (until school anyway) set of vaccinations last wednesday. He was fine at first, but on saturday developed a fever and just cried and cried. Stopped sleeping... he was awake for 7 hours with just a 10 min nap.

On sunday a doctor checked him, but just said to keep giving baby paracetamol/ibuprofen.

He's still not right. At night he's waking every 2 hours again, instead of 4. When I lie him down to nurse him back to sleep he just screams. He's not feeding properly during the day either. How long is this going to last? Everyone is miserable!

Update:

I think I may not have worded my question correctly. I really just wanted to know how long these symptoms can be expected to last, because he's unhappy. If it's not the vaccines, then my only other guess is teething, though it seemed strange, so soon after the injections!

However, I would NEVER not vaccinate my child. I've read both sides of the argument, but I am firmly in favour of vaccinating. The risks are tiny compared to the benefits. I do understand that vaccination does not guarantee immunity, but that is where herd immunity comes into play. Vaccinating is about more than just your child.

And for what it's worth, I'm in the UK.

I am closing this question now, as I really didn't ask for a debate.

It's not uncommon to feel a bit unwell following vaccination.

However given the timings, I'm not really convinced this is related to the vaccine.

Either way, you haven't actually described anything concerning; and he's been evaluated by your doctor, who doesn't seem terribly concerned either.

You're posting this on Y!A, so you're going to get one or more of the following come along (Mrs A, Sherrie Christian, Holly, Lisa) who are going to tell you that your son has had a severe reaction, you should report it to VAERS and don't give paracetamol.

They don't care about your sons welfare, they just hate vaccines and want to blame them for everything. Just ignore them and stick to the facts. If you have any further medical concerns, contact your doctor.

Edit: Vaccines do not contain anything in harmful amounts. Dose is poison.

Oxygen and water are harmful too in excess.

Anecdotes aren't data. Just because something occurred *after* vaccination does not mean it occurred *because* of vaccination.

Also, note that Holly's recourse is the Big Parma shill gambit: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/the-...

...Which pretty much concedes that she has no evidence and has to resort to fallacious attacks. It's easier to dismiss someone if you can convince yourself that person has some ulterior motive and is being paid to defend their position....

I hope he fully recovers. When it comes time for school, you should know that you can get an exemption to the vaccine requirements for personal and/or religious beliefs, in every state except Mississippi and West Virginia. If you are in Canada, you can get exemption information here: http://www.vran.org/

Edit: I was going to be lazy by ending my answer there, but Rhianna shamed me into taking the time to mention that you should not give him Paracetamol or Tylenol before one year old, because it may significantly increase his risk of developing asthma later in childhood. http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2008/09/19/ast...

If you are in the United States, I do advise that you report the reaction to VAERS, as does VAERS itself. The brochure for VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System), which is run by the U.S. government, says, "You should report any adverse event that happens after getting a vaccine."

I have read so many other questions just like yours here on YA. Vaccines contain very dangerous ingredients and come with long lists of possible adverse reactions including chronic illnesses, neurological disorders and death. They also do NOT even guarantee immunity. Please get your child to a doctor and report this to VAERS. Here is a link to a website with stories by parents whose children also suffered adverse reactions. This is not something to take lightly. Vaccines can cause serious damage to your child:

"Stories of resistance to reporting adverse vaccine reactions"

Some examples of official resistance to acknowledging and/or reporting adverse vaccine reactions

I have an extremely healthy UNvaxxed 3 year old who has never been sick a day in his life. I refuse to take the risks involved with vaccinating especially when there is NO guarantee of immunity. There are many vaccine pushers here on YA that have financial ties to Big Pharma. They almost always attack my answers. I say do some research before you allow your child to receive any more vaccines. Here is Dr. Sherri Tenpenny's top 10 reasons to refuse vaccines:

    http://journal.livingfood.us/2009/05/14/10-reasons...

Here are many articles written by doctors against vaccines:

Good luck I hope your little one will be okay. Educate before you vaccinate.

  • I haven't heard of that reaction either -

Could he have something else going on, with the injections? ear infection? reflux? something else?
