On October 9, 2011, California Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 499 into law, which gives California kids 12 years old and older the right to get any STD vaccine, which currently includes Gardasil and hepatitis B, without parental consent or knowledge.

The law does not specifically say that kids can refuse the vaccine, but with the right to consent, I believe also comes the right to refuse. Do you agree?

If so, this is great news for all those kids 12 and older who don't want to get Gardasil, who have parents trying to force them to get it. They can now say no!

In March 2010, a pig virus called PCV1 was found in all doses of the Rotarix brand of rotavirus vaccine. It has been there since the vaccine came on the market. The FDA took Rotarix off the U.S. market as a precaution. More recently, both PCV1 and PCV2, which causes serious disease in pigs, was found in all doses of the RotaTeq brand of rotavirus vaccine. Why do you think the FDA decided that PCV2, which is a more serious virus, is okay to be given to all infants in the U.S. when it is combined with PCV1 in RotaTeq, when they previously took Rotarix off the market for just PCV1 contamination? And why do you think that just 2 months after the FDA pulled Rotarix for PCV1 contamination, did they decide that it is now safe, when there have been no studies done in the meantime regarding its safety to humans?

The FDA did say that doctors should warn parents of the contamination before giving the vaccine. I wonder how many doctors will actually do that? If your infant was recently given a rotavirus vaccine, did your doctor warn you of the pig virus contamination beforehand?

I'd like to start playing card games as a family, and since cards are inexpensive, I might as well buy the best brand.

There used to be a pro-life alternative to injecting your children with aborted fetus cells in the MMR vaccine. Only the rubella portion contained aborted fetus cells, so you could choose to get the separate measles vaccine, and the separate mumps vaccine, skipping the rubella vaccine.
