  • Growing out Japanese straightened hair. Help?

I first got my hair japanese straightened two years ago and have gotten it done twice, spaced a year apart (for my birthday). I got it done because my mom had gotten it done in the past and still does and she has always loved it. I had wavy hair and I wanted to try having straight hair without doing any work. Japanese straightening was great because I would get out of the shower and it would dry perfectly flat, no blow drying or straight ironing needed. The last time I got it was two Decembers ago (2012). I decided to skip it this year for my birthday just because I wanted to give my hair a break from the chemicals and I was also curious to see what happened. It's funny because I kind of forgot what my natural hair even looked like and now that it is coming back it is so weird. It is wavy at the top especially towards the front (my long hair must be pulling it down so it stays somewhat straight from being pulled down). Also underneath by my ears it is super wavy. When I get out of the shower and it still wet or damp, I basically have spiral curls underneath. My hair really annoys me because it is really wavy on top and underneath but then stick straight everywhere else. It's awful and a lot of work. When I try to straighten it, it is still puffy and frizzy and doesn't look right. If I try to curl it, my permanently straightened hair won't hold a curl. My hair is about 6 inches past my shoulders and I think I would have to cut it off so that I can grow it out. Help please! :)

  • Is the Vision M01 cage a good size for a parrotlet?

Is the Vision M01 (which is medium) an okay size for a parrotlet? It's what I have for now, but in the future I will probably be getting a larger cage.

  • Is the Vision M01 bird cage big enough for 3 parakeets?

I already have two parakeets in this cage but I just wanted to know if it was big enough for three parakeets.

  • Is tennis hard to learn?

I'm a girl going into high school this year and I really want get involved with school activities becuase in the past I haven't really done that. I was thinking about doing a sport. I'm not exactly the athletic type, but I thought I might give sports a try this year. In the past I have only done tee ball and soccer when I was really young (around 5 or 6), track in 4th and 5th grade, and cross country in 6th grade and I actually ended up quitting cross country at the end becuase it was too hard lol. So as you can see, like I said I am not the best at sports. I always thought tennis seemed somewhat interesting and somewhat easy so I thought I would try it out. I never really played it and I don't know much about it. Is it hard? Please tell me what you think of tennis or any other sports you think are good for beginners. Thanks! :)

  • Should I get another budgie and how do I introduce them?

I asked this question yesterday and got two helpful answers, but I am looking for as many answers I can get on this question. Thanks!

I got my first ever budgie, Tiki nine days ago. I can hold millet and he will eat it and I can also pet him. That is it though. He won't step up onto my finger, and I don't think he wants to. I know that he is still new and I need to work with him, but for now I really think he doesn't want me to play with him. He usually just sits in one spot and only moves around a little. He isn't completely still but he doesn't like to fly all around or play with his toys. He also chirps rarely. Except for when I watch a YouTube video with budgies in it, then he chirps like crazy. It makes me sad because he thinks there are other budgies, when there aren't. I think he gets lonely. I would really love to bond with him, and I'm pretty sure that if I get another budgie he won't want to bond with me. But on the other hand, of course I want him to be happy. I think he will be happier with another bird to play with. I want to get another male because I heard they get along the best. Also I am going into ninth grade so Monday-Friday I will be gone for six hours. I think he will get lonely and bored without me for six hours. I think a budgie friend would be good for him, even if it means he won't want to bind with me. I also have questions on how exactly I introduce them. Please help! :)

  • Introducing a new budgie to my current one?

I got my first ever budgie, Tiki nine days

ago. It's funny becuase I feel like I have had him for much longer even though it's only been nine days. I can hold millet and he will eat it, and I can pet him. That's about it. He won't step up onto my finger yet. I don't think he wants to. He chirps rarely, except when I am watching a YouTube video with budgies in it. When he hears them, he starts chirping like crazy. It makes me sad becuase he thinks there are other birds, and I think he gets lonely. All he does is sit and be quiet. I haven't taken him out to play yet, becuase he won't step onto my finger and sometimes he tries to bite me, but he hasn't yet. I know he is still new, but I am wondering if he would like a friend. I think he would be a lot happier, but i would be a little upset becuase I dont think he would want to bond with me. Would he ignore me? I would prefer to bond with my bird, but of course I want him to be happy. If I did get another budgie, I would get another male. Becuase if I get a female, they might mate and I don't want that. I think he will be happier with a friend, but I'm not 100% sure of course. If I do get another bird, I need to know how to introduce them. I don't know exactly how. Do you have to quarantine them. And how do exactly do you do that? I just have a lot of questions, so please help!

    Thanks! :)

  • Should I get one or two parakeets?

I'm a first time bird owner and I'm 14 years old and I want to get a parakeet. I have been doing tons of research on them and I know that they are very social birds and need lots of play time and attention. I want to get one parakeet so that I can bond with it and maybe even teach to it say a few things. I have heard that when you have two parakeets, they bond with each other and want nothing to do with you. I don't want that, I want my bird and I to bond. I am willing to spend time with my bird everyday so that it doesn't get lonely, bored, or depressed. There's only one problem and I don't know if it is a big deal or not, so that is why I am asking. My parents are divorced and I live with my Mom most of the time and visit my Dad every other weekend. So for two days every other week, I wouldn't be with my bird. I don't know if this is really bad or not. Can my bird survive without me for two days every other week? By the way, my Mom would feed it while I'm gone and she may even be able to play with it a bit. Also I am getting my bird in a few days or a week and I don't go back to school until the beginning of September so I do have a couple of weeks for a lot of play time with my bird before I go back to school. Obviously I will still interact with my bird when I go to school, but since its summer now I have a lot more time. Anyways, please tell me whether I should get one bird or two. Thanks! :)

  • Parakeets or Zebra Finches?

I'm a 14 year old first time bird owner and I couldn't decide between so many birds to get, but I think I like parakeets and zebra finches even though they are really different. If I got a parakeet I want one so that I can bond with it. If I got a zebra finch I would get two.

I like parakeets because they are cute and colorful and you bond with them. I love how you can teach them tricks and hang out with them.

I like zebra finches because they are cute and a lot easier to care for

I know that you have to spend a lot of time with parakeets in order to bond with it. Also, since they are smart birds they know when you spend less time with them and they get angry. I would love to bond with my bird, but I'm afraid I might not have enough time. My parents are divorced and I live with my Mom most of the time and visit my Dad every other weekend. So I would have time to play with the bird every single day except for two days every other week. I don't know if this is bad. Can the bird be without me for two days every other week? (My Mom can feed it obviously, I don't know if she would play with it).

I like zebra finches because you don't need to train them or spend time with them. You can just talk to them and they would be happy. But I don't know if I might get annoyed with their constant beeping noises. I also think they would be a lot easier to care for.

I am so torn on which bird I should get, and I obviously want it to have the best life with me it can have. I just don't know which one is right for me. I would love to bond with a cute little parakeet, but I'm worried I might not have enough time. Also I can't bond with the zebra finches but they are easier to care for.

    Please help

  • Do you have to cover a bird cage at night?

So I always thought that you had to cover a bird cage at night so that the bird would go to sleep. Recently my family purchased a parrotlet and we do not cover the cage, he just goes to bed when it gets dark. We bought him at a bird place (not Petco or Petsmart. A place that only sells birds and bird supplies) and they told us that you don't have to cover a bird cage. Although, if you start covering a bird cage at night, you can't stop doing it because you will stress the bird out. I just wanted to know for sure if you do or don't have to cover a bird cage.

  • Parakeet or Love bird?

I am a first time bird owner and I'm 14 years old so I thought I would start out with a small bird such as a parakeet or love bird. But I'm SO confused on which one I should get. I used to be set on getting a parakeet but now I am falling in love with love birds (haha). Is one of them better for first time bird owners? Which one do you like best and why? I'm really confused on which one i should get. Please help! Thanks! :)

  • How to find the least aggressive parakeet at a pet store?

I am a first time parakeet owner and I am going to get my bird from Petco or Petsmart. I don't know if there is any 100% guaranteed way to pick out a bird that is not aggressive, but if there are any tips on how to pick a nice bird, it would be very helpful. Also, can you please tell me some behaviors that aggressive birds do at the store so that I can avoid them. Thanks! :)

  • Will my budgie get lonely?

I am a first time bird owner and I thought that a parakeet/budgie would be a good bird to start with.

So I wanted to tell you that the reason I'm asking this question is because I don't want my budgie to get lonely.

Anyways, I'm 14 and I do go to school, so that is already some time I would have to be away from my bird. Other than that I would spend time with my bird the rest of the day when I'm not in school. The only other time I wouldn't be with my bird is because my parents are divorced and I live with my Mom and I go to my Dad's house every other weekend. I just wanted to know if my bird would get lonely without me for two days, because I know that budgies are very social birds. So any other time than when I'm in school and when I'm at my Dad's, I will be spending time with my bird. Is that okay?

  • What is the best cage for a parakeet?

This is my first time having a bird so obviously my first time having a parakeet. I thought that a parakeet would be a good bird to start out with. I would like to get my bird a Vision brand cage, because I heard they are good, but I don't know which model to get my bird. Should I get the small or medium cage? Btw, I am only getting one parakeet. And if I do get the medium should I get the M01 (wider shorter cage) or M02 (slimmer taller cage). I'm really confused so please help! Thanks! :)

  • Tips for a first time parakeet owner please?

I'm 14 and I have had hamsters in the past that I have taken care of myself, but I have

never owned a bird before. I think that starting out with a parakeet is a good choice. I would really appreciate all of the information I could get about owning a parakeet. Such as: the best food for it, the best cage, everything I need to do as far as cleaning, and playing/bonding with my bird. All the tips I could get would be very helpful! Thanks! :)

  • Parakeet or Parrotlet? Which should I get?

I'm a 14 year old girl and I have owned 5 hamsters in the past and I have taken care of them myself. I just thought I would tell you that, but I have never owned a bird before. I am interested in parakeets and parrotlets, but I don't know which one would be best for me. Can I please have the pros and cons of each bird? Also, advice on owning a bird for the first time would be helpful! :)

  • Should I get one or two parakeets?

So I'm 14 and I have had pets before and I do have pets now (chocolate lab, two cats, hamster and turtle). They are everyone's

pets, but I have had my own pets in the past such as hamsters and I have taken care of them myself. Anyways I have never had a bird before (neither has anyone in my family) and I thought that starting out with a parakeet would be good.

Anyways, I am not a particularly busy girl except for the fact that I go to my Dad's house (my parents are divorced) a couple days of the week sometimes in the summer and every other weekend during the summer and any time of the year. Other than that I'm not busy with sports or clubs or constantly hanging out at a friend's house. I just thought I would tell you that because I know that parakeets are social birds and need lots of attention.

I just can't decide whether to get one or two. I would prefer to have one bird because there will be more bonding time with me and less mess. I am afraid that I have to get two though because I am not always with my Mom at my main house, so when I'm at at my Dad's I'm afraid my bird will get lonely. But I'm not sure if this will happen though. I'll just tell you the reasons I wouldn't like two birds:

They could fight or be jealous of each other

    More mess

They could be a male and a female and have babies (which is not what I want)

One of them could be feisty

They could only like each other and not want to bond with me

So that is all, if I had to get two birds I would be okay with it, but I would prefer one. Please tell me what you think I should do.

    Thanks! :)

  • How do I get out of the depressing "place" if I have no motivation?

Hello!! So I'm a 14 year old girl. Currently, I am lazy, a bit depressed and not active at all. It's really bad. Since its summer, I have been doing barely anything. I'll tell you about what I do and how I feel and hopefully you have some tips on how to get me out of this low-spirited mood.

So basically, I feel sick (stomach pains and headaches and lethargic) a lot, because I don't eat well and I don't excericse. I know it's really horrible for me. I also don't drink enough water.

When I get up in the morning, I find that almost everything I eat makes my stomach hurt. Then I go the rest of the day snacking like crazy on junk food. I rarely eat fruits or vegetables. My mom has to tell me to eat fruit and vegetables or include them with my dinner. I also don't eat nutritious lunches. I'll eat a peanut butter sandwich, a corndog, macaroni and cheese, taquitos, or something else unhealthy. I can also go a long time or even a whole day without drinking water. It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I forget becuase I don't feel thirsty. My diet is HORRIBLE and the fact that I don't exercise makes it worse. I am not overweight though, becuase I have a really fast metabolism. In fact, I am actually a few pounds underweight then what I should be for my height.

The next thing is that I barely exercise. You need exercise and I don't get any. I have also heard the when you exercise you release something in your body (like a chemical?) that makes you happy, well at least I think. Anyways exercising is good for you, and not doing it makes me feel worse.

Also, my room has been a mess for a pretty long time. And when I say a mess, I mean really bad!!! I occasionally clean it up a bit, but it always goes back to being a pigsty again. When my room is messy, I get really depressed. The environment around me really effects the way I think. Anyways, it is just a cycle and I want to get out of it and be happy again, but I don't know how. Please help me be healthy and happy
