Parakeet or Love bird?
I am a first time bird owner and I'm 14 years old so I thought I would start out with a small bird such as a parakeet or love bird. But I'm SO confused on which one I should get. I used to be set on getting a parakeet but now I am falling in love with love birds (haha). Is one of them better for first time bird owners? Which one do you like best and why? I'm really confused on which one i should get. Please help! Thanks! :)
Also whether I get a parakeet or love bird, I will be getting one bird and not two so that it will interact and bond with me.

Me and you are around the same age parakeets are the best birds to get I was confused on that or love birds to but I looked some stuff up on them there gonna need a lot of maintenance and the website I was on said sometimes there were aggressive so I talked to my mom she said she doesn't think I Gould get. Bird that may try to harm me or anyone in my family (my sisters pregnant) so then I found parakeet birds In my area and I fell in love with one I can't wait to get him.

If you buy lovebirds they want to mate and be a couple. You should buy two, a male and female. Otherwise you are really doing an injustice to this species that really want to be lovebirds. Parakeets are also wonderful in pairs but do well enough as a single pet. Remember your bird will always look for freedom and needs to fly around the house as often as possible. Keep your windows closed. If you really want to be a good bird lover, buy a pair of birds.

Personally, I prefer love birds--they're sweet and pretty and remind me of my late zebra finches. HOWEVER! Sinc you're a first-time owner, I'd go with the parakeet as you can buy just one to look after to see how you go, and it's much easier to look after one parakeet than two lovebirds (they prefer to live in pairs, again like Zebra finches). Parakeets also tend to be more social than lovebirds, though don't quote me on it, so it is easier to spot illness.
Hope this helps!! ^-^!! Get whichever bird your heart is set on--and if you make it work with one type then you can try your hand at keeping the other type, too.

I know you asked about parakeets and love birds but when I was 13 I got my first bird, and he is a parrotlet :) they are a mix of both personalities of a parakeet and a love bird! love birds tend to bite really hard. parrotlets bite but I have 3 now and none have ever broken my skin! I have held many love birds and have ended up with band aids all over! and parakeets are very scared and seem more independent. Parrotlets were a great match for me! I would consider looking them up :)
