Mike M
I was raised in a "Christian" environment but did not come to know my Lord and Savior until the age of 32 when I surrendered. Since that time, God has taken from me, smoking, drugs and partying and replaced it with patience, understanding, love of a Father, and a desire to do His will (though, even as Paul, sometimes I wonder why I don't do the things I should and continue to do the things that I despise). Just another sinner, forgiven and so grateful. I would never go back to what I was before I was born again. I am no better than the average person, in fact, I consider myself quite average. Nothing special on my own. Jesus separates me. All those who have been born again are my brothers an sisters in Christ. It's really cool to meet a stranger, find out they are a believer and watch the relationship instantly change because of that great common bond. My favorite scripture is found in Job 13:15, "Though He may slay me, Yet I will trust
Does having faith in God and science contradict?
What do you think of this:
Science is defined as “the observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena.” Science is a method that mankind can use to gain a greater understanding of the natural universe. It is a search for knowledge through observation. Advances in science demonstrate the reach of human logic and imagination. However, a Christian’s belief in science should never be like our belief in God. A Christian can have faith in God and respect for science, as long as we remember which is perfect and which is not.
Our belief in God is a belief of faith. We have faith in His Son for salvation, faith in His Word for instruction, and faith in His Holy Spirit for guidance. Our faith in God should be absolute, since when we put our faith in God, we depend on a perfect, omnipotent, omniscient Creator. Our belief in science should be intellectual and nothing more. We can count on science to do many great things, but we can also count on science to make mistakes. If we put faith in science, we depend on imperfect, sinful, limited, mortal men. Science throughout history has been wrong about many things, such as the shape of the earth, powered flight, vaccines, blood transfusions, and even reproduction. God is never wrong.
Truth is nothing to fear, so there is no reason for a Christian to fear good science. Learning more about the way God constructed our universe helps all of mankind appreciate the wonder of creation. Expanding our knowledge helps us to combat disease, ignorance, and misunderstanding. However, there is danger when scientists hold their faith in human logic above faith in our Creator. These persons are no different from anyone devoted to a religion; they have chosen faith in man and will find facts to defend that faith.
8 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntAguadilla Puerto Rico, Help with any Info?
I usually take my family (Wife w/ 2 kids) to California and stay at Del Mar Beach in Camp Pendleton. In 2011 I was thinking about going down to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and staying in the Light House Beach houses on Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen. Can anyone that has been in the vicinity tell me what it's like and if it's worth the travel money?

22 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntTrivia: Who said this?
“To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.”

I answered a question on another page with this but wanted to see what you all thought.
If a man murders a woman and she is pregnant, they charge him with the murder of the woman AND the murder of the unborn child.
...but there are abortionists that say it is NOT life and some courts actually agreeing...and the worst being Partial Birth Abortion. What I don't want to hear is "becasue she didn't voluntarily kill her own baby".
Like that makes it right...I'm sure the unborn baby didn't volunteer to die.
How can you justify this?

22 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntChristians: Becoming as a Child?
Matthew 18:2-4
Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Mark 10:15
Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.
...unless you become as little children...
Children Forgive unconditionally
Children love unconditionally

2 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntThe Bible says it is...?
I answered a post with the headline that I wrote above.
Ya know, my 7 yr-old daughter asked me, "Daddy, how can people not believe in or love God? It is the easiest thing to do."
The quiet, astute thoughts of a believing child right?
I have often, since then pondered that question. Then I look at the answers that some people post about God. Like they are offended or something when someone brings Him up (In a religious & Spirituality section).
I see it. I don't understand it...but I want you to know that every night my daughter prays her heart and says (word for word), "God I pray for those people who don't believe in you"
Heaven is real...sadly, so is hell...the Bible calls it eternal torment. You should be afraid. Because even the roughest and toughest will know too late...and weep
What are your thoughts...I already know how the ones mentioned above will answer...what about the rest of you.

14 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntIf there were proofs in the Bible that it was written by the influence of God...would you believe?
We can date manuscripts from the Bible back to well over 2000 years ago (and thats just the New Testement). If there were things written in the Bible that man in that time could have never known...Scientific things...things that weren't even found out by our scientific minds until hundreds or even thousands of years later...say quite a number of things. Would you believe? Please explain.
