With all the hatred toward Jesus being forseen by Him, can any one explain this verse to the class:?
1 Corinthians 1:18-31
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

It means exactly what it says. Christians see the power of God through the life of Jesus. Non-Christians tend to see Christians as foolish. I remember my non christian friends making fun of me, years ago, because I choose to give an offering every pay day to my church. They thought I was foolish.

The "word of the cross" simply means the gospel, and to "those who are perishing" means unbelievers. So to those who don't believe, the Gospel is foolishness, but to those who are saved, it is the power of God.

God already knows who will inherit eternal life and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. God knows who will not humbly receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Jesus said in John 3:18 that "he who does not believe is condemed already" We have to remember, Jesus did not have an earthly mentality. Neither did Paul. God dwells in Eternity. This is why Jesus could say, "When Abraham was, I Am". He was not operating in the dimension of time. So Jesus knew who would receive Him and who wouldn't before He even died for them. So to those whom God already knows will be perishing, the Gospel of the Cross is foolishness to them. It will make no sense to them, because in Eternity, they have already perished.

Doesn't seem to speaking of the hatred displayed towards Jesus, but more so the wisdom and intelligence that the power of the cross was to destroy
17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.

You mean it's not obvious?
Those who choose to hold the truth in unrighteousness have to develop some mental exercise to dismiss the truth. This is the supreme foolishness because the end result is to perish.
To the redeemed, the cross is what made our redemption possible, and makes our salvation worth the effort.
In case you're not aware of the difference between redemption and salvation: Redemption is being born into the family of our patriarch in heaven, salvation is what we lay hold of by a life of obedience to the righteousness of Christ.

What do you expect Paul to say?
"Oops! They're right! I was such an idiot for preaching this stuff to you and getting you to put me up for several months while I hung around in Corinth. My bad!"
Paul was simply calling people who disagree with him wrong. It happens all the time. That hardly makes it an inspired statement, any more than the times I tell others that they're mistaken is inspired. Paul happens to be defending himself. What would you say when you're defending yourself against someone who called you a fool?

To those who want to understand Jesus and follow Him, the Scriptures will make sense.
To those who don't, the Scriptures will be so much Jabberwocky.

The word of the cross?
The only religion to have a symbol of torture at its core. And people wonder why so many hate religion?
