I work in construction. I was called after shift on Thursday and told I was not needed the next day, and would be called when more work comes up. It is a week later. I called my supervisor on Monday and left a message regarding my availability I have not heard anything back, and I have not been paid. I called again Wednesday and asked what is my employment status. Supervisor says they have no work, but will call me if something comes up. I asked if I was fired or laid off Supervisor did not give a straight answer, repeating work is slow and there is no work for me. I have not received my final paycheck or notice of change to employment relationship . It is obvious to me I am laid off, no work, but they wont tell me or give written notice of termination as required by law. What should I tell EDD as to why I am no longer working as asked on the unemployment insurance claim form? I know the employer is liable to me for not paying me promptly when told no more work available I am told I will be called "if something comes up" This is a large multi million dollar national construction company. They know darn well what is coming up and when

I have been using a basic tomato based BBQ sauce recipe. Something is missing, maybe I'm just too used to manufactured bottled sauce. To this basic recipe, I have added tsp salt,1/2 tsp cumin, 2 tbsp molasses, tbsp oregano and thin it to desired consistency with pineapple juice. Maybe another teaspoon apple cider vinegar. Liquid smoke flavoring? Most bottles list high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient This is the reason I want to make my own, not using bottled ketchup.

2 8oz can of tomato sauce

1 6oz can of tomato paste

2 tablespoons vinegar

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, crushed

4 tablespoons onion, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 teaspoon cayenne(I replace with 2 tbsp ground chipotle chiles)

fresh ground pepper to taste. Cook onion and garlic till soft, add all ingredients and simmer low for 20 minutes, stir frequently.

For southern grits to be grits, that have to treated in alkali. Are grits only white corn? I wonder if they taste like a Mexican corn tortilla because in Mexico, they also treat their corn in alkali. It is the only way to make corn nutritionally available. I live in California. All I can find is canned hominy, and degermed cornmeal, I don't think I'm getting a proper grits experience

I am interested in home protection. A home invasion robbery happened nearby and has me contemplating my own security situation. I was convicted of several misdemeanor offenses involving driving without license, DUI in my early 20's. I'm 46 now and not had as much as a speeding ticket in over 15 years. I was also convicted of a felony(PC 32) 20 years ago, that was set aside by the courts, reduced to misdemeanor after successful completion of probation. I have never been arrested for a violent offense, what chance do I have of obtaining CCW for personal security?

I changed the laptop display resolution to 1360X768, which is supported by the TV. I open display settings and it doesn't detect the TV as external monitor, the TV gets no signal from laptop. What needs to be done get these devices to work together?

OK, well I failed in my mayo making attempts and poured several down the drain. I broke down and bought an immersion blender and failed twice besides the point. I tried again with 1 tsp store bought mustard, 3 room temp egg yolks, 2 tbs lime juice, 1 tsp apple vinegar, dash of salt. 1 cup veg oil. I did the same thing 3 times, but only one success. I let the egg and acid sit for an hour or more and it was success. I dribbled in some of the failed mayo, and it blended in nicely, adding to my lot. I've tried to make mayo and wasted a dozen eggs and a quart of oil before I finally got it. I wonder if I can store the failures in the freezer, of course not very long , but keep my success and blend in the failure to the success? That wayt I'm not worried about reproducing my success, as I have no idea what I did right or wrong- just want to keep it alive,like a sourdough, if you get me.

I am always tired. I went to sleep early and slept 7 hours. when I got up I was still tired. I had a cup of coffee, and then I sat down and went to sleep all day. I just got up and it;s 5pm. I feel like napping again. Im so lazy. I dont want to do anything but sleep.

I was experimenting trying to make a marinade. I used 1 cup olive oil, 1 tbs minced garlic, 1 tbs chili powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, 2 tbs apple vinegar, salt. I stirred it all up and it turned into a thick sauce about the consistency of mayonnaise. It tastes pretty good, I used it for a stir fry sauce, but is there a term for what I made, not the ingredients, but the process of emulsifying the vinegar, oil, and spices. I need it to be more liquid for a marinade, I'm going to try to add some water.

what is best for home protection, .45, 9mm, or security shotgun?

I want to watch sites like Hulu, and other streaming video from the net on my TV set. It an analog TV. Im thinking I need a signal converter like I use for the DVD player. What are my options?

OK. A young man,19, drives up in the middle of the night , 12 am, 3am, 11pm, whenever. He goes to see his 16 yr old girlfriend that lives 3 houses down the street. It's a public st, can't tell him not to park in front of my house. Problem is, there have been a lot of break-ins lately. Some neighbors suspect him, wonder. I am a light sleeper, so I hear someone drive up, I have to get up and check it out. I have mentioned it to the owner of the home. The guy is aware of the late night visits to his daughter, and is not concerned. I am tired of being disturbed.

Yes this actually happenned . I was disgusted, and told the parents they were rude and disgusting for doing so. this was a $10 dollar restarant, but still! Trying to eat people! I did not even realize the father was doing this as I saw him tending to the baby. He put the diaper on the floor, and I could smell it! After I said my peice, the parents shot back with "Tell them to put in a changing table!" like it is up to everyone else to provide a poo changing station. I demanded my money back for a half eaten dinner and left- I believe I am right in this, girlfriend says we should have just moved tables, i could not seeing paying my hard earned money to eat in a place that allows poo on their tables. Cute baby though, and not even crying.
