I am currently serving in the army reserve and had planned on going to college and attending ROTC so as to become an officer. I want to just do the 3 years after college (Active of course). I have heard rumors that they try to sneak you into an added 4 years as a reserve officer afterwards is this true I do not want to be a reservist anymore I find it to be a large waste of time and just destroys my freedoms and my ability to advance myself seeing as I can never make plans for my future without worrying about whether or not ill be pulled away for some ignorant and useless training they have me lead. ( bonus question is it normal for a private to fill an E-6 slot?)

I just got out of military training and am planning on attending Oklahoma state university in January. I am taking my test on the 12th of December for my ACT. My highschool unweighted GPA wasn t that good (2.95). I am wondering that if I I did well on my act such as a 24+ and being in state and had taken multiple advanced classes in highschool (AP) would all that increase my chance of acceptance and could I even make the deadline for application?

Was planning on doing ROTC but NROTC seems more and more appealing especially the marine option but I don't know if that's even possible to do or is only ROTC going to be accepted to cut my contract into a cadet status.

I feel like we have a very good military here in the US but im curious as to how a gas attack at night would work. Would night vision still work in the gas would you be left blind in the dark with you mask on?

Is it possible to switch MOS after AIT maybe from reserve to active infantry/cav/engineer or any needed combat job the army might need, got an 82 on my asvab not sure if that would still help in the whole job dept or not please let me know if this is possible.

74D I wanted a combat MOS they said this was a combat MOS apparently all I do is upkeep a supply room, terrible and the exact opposite of why I joined the military. I could have gone to very good colleges for desk jobs that pay 6 figures but instead I figured id serve my country and do something I enjoy. I DO NOT ENJOY SITTING IN A CONCRETE ROOM ALL DAY CRAMPED UP WITH 5 OTHER GROWN *** MEN THAT HAVE THE MATURITY OF 12 YEAR OLDS!!!!!! so yeah... should I just join another branch my basic begins next month and from what I hear im basically going to be wasting my time and life doing this. (Doing reserves for ROTC or NROTC not sure which one yet).

Does basic training make a soldier better than the average civilian or even other nations soldiers (from the US). Are our soldiers generally noticeably better than other nations in general combat?

Thinking of building a small house and at night using candles to light it, I do not plan to be up late and I do plan on waking up early in the morning so that I can work around the land. Im looking into self sustainability, and I think if I am up late enough for the sun to be down I will be on my laptop watching shows or something so that would be a low energy expenditure compared to a T.V. but I digress, would candlelight be sufficient in my situation?

currently enlisted to go into the army next month and honestly from what I've been in it has seemed incredibly unprofessional and rather weak. I planned on going into ROTC directly after my bct/ait could I do a marine ROTC and become a marine officer instead of an army officer or could I switch in between branches without waiting for my whole 8 year contract to expire?

Army 74D, but im in a supply unit. They tell me chances are I will see combat frequently as I will be doing patrols alongside infantry and such. Im not sure if they are right or not I would truly prefer to be doing something outside of that damned supply room. Let me know what you think is likely to happen.

I was thinking after I get out of the military instead of being an engineer I could be a carpenter because I simply love it ive heard union carpenters at the journeyman level make almost double that if not more of a regular journeyman carpenter any input on this?

currently a 74D but my MOS has no slots, I only took this job because it was reserve with a large bonus and I plan on doing ROTC anyways. The fact is they are telling me since they have no open 74D slots they will be turning me into a 92Y (supply guy). Is that even ok can I get a combat reserve MOS? will I lose my bonus like wtf is going on ive been getting F'd over by the military left and right and I haven't even been to basic yet.
