Unfortunately, the Golden Gate Bridge is the building with the world's highest number of suicides. Every year about 15 people commit suicide by jumping from the bridge. Since it’s opening in 1937, 1600 people commit suicide.

Now I would like to tell you something about my personal impression. As I had already said at the beginning, I am thrilled when I saw the Golden Gate Bridge. I often saw the bridge in movies or documentary films. Therefore it was something very special for me to see this bridge in real life andto walk over it. For me it was great to cross the most famous suspension bridge in the world with the car and by foot to enjoy the view. As we crossed the bridge by car into town we had to pay a fee of $5.

For me, as a passionate photographer, it was beautiful to take pictures. We were very lucky with the weather because the Golden Gate Bridge is often befogged. Just when you stand on the bridge you realize how big it is. Because of the length and the wind, we just crossed the half lengt of the bridge by foot.

I was very surprised how many people were crossing the bridge by bicycle. Although it has a bicycle line you have to take attention about the cyclists.

In San Francisco it has a big giftshop. There you can buy DVD's, posters, key chains and more.

For me it was a unique experience to visit this bridge. I hope that I visit San Francisco once again for seeing the city and the Golden Gate Bridge.

I would like to welcome you to my English presentation about the Golden Gate Bridge.

In Summer 2013, I visited with my family the west coast of America. This journey wouldn’t be complete without a stop in San Francisco. On the first day we drove with our rental car across the Golden Gate Bridge and I was thrilled. Before I would like to tell you more about my own experience, I will tell you some details about the bridge.

The Golden Gate Bridge connects the north of San Francisco with the south of the Marin Peninsula. (Image: Map) The suspension bridge, which is made of steel, was constructed by the bridge engineer Joseph Strauss and belongs to the Golden Gate Bay. The name "Golden Gate" comes from the bay, which was called “Golden Gate“ during the time of the Gold Rush in the 1850's".

The bridge has a length of 2,37km and a height of 235m. President Roosevelt opened it on the 28 of May 1937, after four years of construction. Actually Strauss wanted to paint the bridge in an ordinary gray. But when he saw the red rust inhibitors "International Orange", he liked it so much that he chose this.

The cost of the suspension bridge in those days amounted to 35 million dollars. Converted it would be about 629 million dollars today.

Now we would like to tell you something about our own opinion. We chose this song because we like the rythm and the topics in Sweet Home Alabama. It also remaind us about the holidays in the USA. The song had been played many times in the raido.

We also chose Sweet Home Alabama because the song had been played in the movie Forrest Gump. This song tells a important story without to put a point of view. We learnt from this song to analyse things and to make up an own mind.

The song Sweet Home Alabama is a southern rock song. It was released in the year 1974 by the band Lynyrd Skynyrd on the album Second helping and is a counter-reaction or answer to the song Southern Man by Neil Young. But we would like to tell you more in the analyses about it. The writers of Sweet Home Alabama are Ed King, Gary Rossington and Ronnie Van Zant. The label of the nearly five minutes song is MCA (Music Corporation of America).

The band Lynyrd Skynyrd was foundet in the year 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida by five founding members. In the begining they had concerts in the Southern States of America and celebrated many successes.

Unfortunately the band had in the year 1977 a plane crash. They were on the way to a concert in Louisiana. All founders except Gary Rossington died by the accident. It was impossible that the band continues with just one man. Ten years after the tragedy decided the brother of the leadsinger Ronnie Van Zant to refound the band with the same name. The refounded band had not so many successes.

Now we would like to continue with a new subject, analyses and opinion. We have to say that this song has many hidden statements. It has political statements and criticism to Neil Young a singer in the 1960.

After all this information about the race discrimination, I would like to summarize this topic.

The Shawshank Redemption

I would like to lose some words about the film Shawshank Redemption. The author of the book is Steven King and the director Frank Darabont.

Opinion

It was a really interessting film for me. The story was long but I never had boredom. The actors and the author did an absolutly great job.

Summary

The banker Andy Dufresne is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. He is given two life sentences and sent to Shawshank Prison in Maine. He always claims his innocence, but everyone doubt his words.

He met in the Prison Red and they became good friends. Because Andy was a banker, the supervisors asked him to help with the accounting. Incidentally, he also helped to enlarge the prison library and became an assistant of the librarian Brooks Hatlen. Andy washed a lot of bribe for the director Norton.

Suddenly, a new prisoner, called Tommy, came to Shawshank. Andy’s innocence is now proved. Norton let kill Tommy to keep the secrets in the prison.

One day, Andy escaped – he built a tunnel for about 19 years with a Geologist's hammer.

He withdrew all the washed money of the bank and went to Mexico as a rich man.

Before the police arrived to arrest Norton, because of the bribery, he killed himself.

A short time later Red was released on parol. Red promised Andy to go to a special tree in Buxon and search for a black lavastone. He found the stone and there was a letter. He also went to Mexico to help Andy with his dream. At the end Andy and Red met and hugged them on a beach.

Recommendation

I deeply recommend this film to all people who like to watch movies with excitement, grief and humor.

How to lace a wheel

I thought that it’s very easy to build a wheel. You will see that it’s not easy and you need much knowledge.

At first you have to get all the materials and prepare all the tools like a nipple screwdriver and a nipple spanner.

After you have done this you have to calculate the spoke length. There are very good programs in the internet to do this.

Here’s a very easy and clear website.

The third step is to oil all the eyelets of the spokes. You have also to dip the

thread of the spoke ends into oil.

Now you have to thread the right inside spoke in the hub.

After you have threaded it in thread the spokes in the eyelets. Screw now a nipple on the spoke with a nipple screwdriver. There should be regular distances.

The seventh step is to thread the left inside spoke in. Do the same like the sixth step but with the left side.

Fix the right outside spokes and pull them back. Screw again a nipple on the spokes.

Do the same like the eight step on the left side.

Wipe the oil- and fat residues down of the wheel. Fit the wheel now in the wheel truing stand.

Tighten the spoke nipples evenly. You shouldn’t see any thread pitch.

Remove irregularities with the nipple spanner.

Increase the tension slowly. Just do a half revolution every time.

You are finished when you can’t press the spokes together and the spokes feel tight.

Squeeze the wheel now careful. The spokes must be set.

Nun meine Fragen:

Ist es möglich, dass man einen Adapter benutzen kann und dann nur eine Gegenlichtblende kaufen muss?

Und wofür ist beim Objektiv Canon Lens EF 50mm 1:1.8 II noch der Adapter 62 L dabei?

Ich möchte mir diese RAM gleich 4x kaufen, da ich meinen Mac auf 16GB RAM erweitern möchte.

Ich habe seit 1 1/4 Jahr einen iMac 27" i5 2.7 Ghz. Als ich den iMac kaufte lief er richtig schnell und gut. Mit der Zeit aber wird er immer wie langsamer. Um Programme wie Word, Excel und Powerpoint gemeinsam zu Öffnen braucht er etwa 25 Sekunden. Das finde ich extrem lange! Mein iMac hat nur noch 2 GB RAM, da es mir ein RAM mit 2GB zerstört hat. Wird mein iMac schneller, wenn ich ihn auf 16 GB RAM aufrüste und werden die Programme schneller gestartet?

Ich habe vor ein paar Tage die Bilder, die ich nicht mehr auf meiner SD Karte wollte auf meinem iMac gelöscht. Ganz normal, "In den Papierkorb legen" und danach den Papierkorb geleert.

Heute schaute ich mir die BIlder auf dem Fernseher an, und siehe da: Es waren noch alle Bilder vorhanden! Auch die, die gelöscht wurden!

Wo liegt der Haken? Wenn ich die SD Karte jedoch wieder in meinen iMac stecke, sind die Bilder wieder weg!

Wie ihr sicher mitbekommen habt wurde gestern das iPhone 5 vorgestellt. Nun will ich es mir kaufen.

Mein altes Smartphone, ein iPhone 4, werde ich zum Verkauf ausschreiben. Jetzt habe ich immer alle meine Daten kabellos mit der iCloud synchronisiert. Wie sieht es jetzt aus wenn ich mit meinem jetzigen iPhone 4 ein Backup mache. Wird mir dann alles von der iCloud gelöscht oder sind diese Daten (Kontakte, Kalender, Musik,...) immer noch irgendwo vorhanden, damit ich mir dann mein iPhone 5 mit der iCloud synchronisieren kann?

Seit gut einer Woche bin ich Besitzer einer Canon Eos 550d. Nun bin ich ein bisschen am experimentieren mit den Fotos (Belichtung, Blende, ISO,...).

Auf Wikipedia habe ich eine Tabelle für den "Lichtwert einer Zeit/Blenden-Kombination bei ISO 100" gefunden.

Wie ich herausgefunden haben, spielen die Blende und die Verschlusszeit eine entscheidende Rolle. Diese Zahlen von -1 bis 21 sind ja die Lichtwerte. Woran kann ich nun erkennen, welchen Lichtwert ich für was brauche.

Welchen Lichtwert brauche ich bei einem Nachtportrait, einer Naturaufnahmen, einer Sportaufnahme,...?

Kennt jemand irgendwelche Werte, an denen man sich festhalten kann?
