I was driving it home from when the VDC light (Vehicle Dynamic Control), slip indicator light and ABS (anti-lock brake light) all came on at the same time and remained on. Didn't seem to have any problem driving the car until after I stopped for gasoline and then I stopped and turned off the car at a Taco Bell about one mile away from the gas station. Now it does not have any power at all. I know some of you folks will think with a 1.8 L engine, what should I expect, but now it has a lot less power than what it would normally have. All of this has happened to me today. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do I have one problem or two or three?

Here is the situation: I was driving from a church last Sunday when the check engine light came on. Took it to a local mechanic in my community who was able to read the code--P0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1). The mechanic told I had 3 options: 1. Install new VW or VW like converter. This option costs $1000 to $1300. 2. Go to a muffler shop, have them place an aftermarket converter with the cost between $300 & $600. The converter brands available would be either Walker or Magnaflow. 3. Cut my losses & get another car. He recommended this as I mentioned at the time that the car used a little oil, about half quart between oil changes@ 3000 miles. He said there had to be something wrong with the motor for this to happen to catalytic converter. I smell no bad odor from the exhaust emanating from the car. Seems to run fine. Hence my questions.

I am preparing for my licensed clinical social worker exam (not California). I am studying for the exam and reviewing my classwork, and I am looking for every advantage I can get, because I really want to pass this exam the FIRST time. I would like to know whether or not this site is worth using to prepare for the exam. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this question.

What is wrong with it? When it stops running I can restart it and it runs fine. What could be wrong with it and what do I need to do about it? My problem is that I live an hour and a half from any Suzuki dealership.

Here is my problem: I recently got married and I want to use my wife's computer, but I need to get my files off my old computer. My computer's OS is Windows 98 SE. I tried to use a flash drive to get the files off my computer but no matter what I did (including getting a special driver from the manufacturer of the flash drive) I could not get the flash drive to work.

Since this alternative failed, what I am planning to do is to take out my hard drive in my Windows 98 SE computer, set it to slave, and temporarily install it in a computer with Windows XP in the hopes that I can get my working files off the drive. That is the plan--will this work? Any constructive help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The computer will still boot up, and I am using it to get on the internet, but when I try to use my word processor, the hard drive starts to make a grinding sound and the computer locks up. What should I do? Should I try to reinstall the word processor/office software--I know I will probably have to replace the drive eventually--but will unstalling/reinstalling the software help anything? What should I do?

...the issue is that I cannot open my driver's side door from the outside. My door handle is such that I have to lift up on the door handle to open the door and now the door handle is about as useless as a limp dishrag. All of this was totally without warning, and I have never had anything like this to happen before. What do I need to do to fix this--i.e. so that I can open my driver's side door from the outside again?

My current desktop tower computer is seven years old. The operating system on this computer is Windows 98 SE. I would like to get a new computer. I would like to continue to use some of the programs I have on my current computer. But I realize that technology is advancing...so here is my dilemma: Would I be better off buying a computer that has Windows XP installed as the operating system or a computer that has Windows Vista as the operating system?

I would prefer something with Windows Mobile.

If the timing belt breaks, will that event destroy the engine? I don't know for sure what type of engine I have, but I know some engines if the timing belt breaks the engine will not be destroyed, but I know in some engines the breaking of the timing belt wrecks the engine (example: 1980's models of the Ford Escort).

I have a Master of Social Work degree and I want to have the chance to earn a PhD in this field.

I have a 1998 Suzuki Esteem wagon with platinum plugs made by Autolite. I get 33-36 mpg consistently with this vehicle (average about 33.5 mpg). But I was wondering if I bought SplitFire plugs or Bosch +4s (Bosch makes a plug that has 4 separate electrodes at the tip) whether that would increase the mileage per gallon. Any answers appreciated.
