Would it be better to buy a new computer that has Windows XP installed on it or a computer with Windows Vista?
My current desktop tower computer is seven years old. The operating system on this computer is Windows 98 SE. I would like to get a new computer. I would like to continue to use some of the programs I have on my current computer. But I realize that technology is advancing...so here is my dilemma: Would I be better off buying a computer that has Windows XP installed as the operating system or a computer that has Windows Vista as the operating system?

If you can still find a computer you can buy without vista get it. Vista is buggy as all heck cannot run most newer games and has way to many problems to list. It is at least 6+ months away worth of updates before i would even recommend someone to use it.

I bought a new PC with Windows Vista. I had XP on the PC I replaced. What I found is a few programs I had with XP are not compatable with Vista. That can be annoying because I either have to find a similar program that works with Vista or I'll have to wait until the software companies catch up.
On the positive side, there are loads of programs I have that work faster and better with Vista. I'm getting used to Vista now. Theres a few bugs to be worked out but I'm sure with all the advance technology I'll have no worries keeping up with new programs and software. In the long run your better off with Vista in my opinion.

If you want Windows Vista, you would need to be prepared to spend double, even more than double, on a computer. I would stick with Windows XP now anyways, as Vista is fairly new and probably still working out issues and problems with it.

Its tough to find a home PC with XP. If you look at either Dell or HP online, you can get a business PC with XP or Vista, but all home pcs now come with Vista. :(.
Too bad because this is just another case of microsoft running the world. They are just too big. They have now told all retailers who sell new PCs that if they want their OS they cannot sell windows XP after december 31. And that sucks because vista still has a lot of bugs.
Best bet if you are looking at either HP or Dell, go online and order a business PC and you can still get XP on them.

verify and notice if there's a Multicolored green decal someplace on the computing device. it is going to say something like homestead windows XP homestead version..... and alongside the element it says data of License certificates of Authenticity. as long as you have this decal, you're no longer a sufferer of counterfeiting. call them up and yell at them or something, and tell them which you extremely have that sitcker. do no longer purchase yet another reproduction, you do no longer could desire to spend 2 hundred dollars on a replica which you rightfully very own. additionally, there is not any SP3 yet for homestead windows XP.

as the HDD/memory requirement for vista is quite high, ( http://mpan3.homeip.net/page?vista ) you should stick with XP for a while longer.
