  • C++ Programming toupper() and tolower() strings help?

    So i'm a little new to programing and i', doing a small hangman program but i'm having trouble figuring out how to ignore the user inputs case sensitivity.... If that makes sense?

    For an example, if the word they're trying to solve is 'American Airlines' , the user enters the letter a, it will only count the a next to c and n.

    However, if they enter A, then it will only count for the first letter A in both words.

    How can I program it to where if the user inputs 'a', it recognizes both capitalized and lowercase letters in the word?

    I know i have to use the toupper() and tolower() functions but i'm not really sure where to put them or code them. (still a noob).

    This is what i have so far:

    cout << "Phrase to guess: ";

    cout << GuessWord << endl;

    cout << "Enter a letter: ";

    cin >> Letter;

    Location = SecretWord.find(Letter,0);

    if (Location > SecretWord.size())

    BadGuesses++;

    else

    while (Location < SecretWord.size())

    {

    GuessWord.replace(Location,1,Letter);

    char a='A';

    a=toupper(a);

    Location = SecretWord.find(Letter, Location + 1);

    }

  • I need C++ Homework Help! :s?

    Hey guys,

    So i'm supposed to write a program that prints the song "99 bottles of root beer on the wall" using a for loop. However, it needs to be grammatically correct.

    For an example:

    5 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    5 bottles of root beer.

    Take one down, pass it around.

    4 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    -----------------------------------

    4 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    4 bottles of root beer.

    Take one down, pass it around.

    3 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    -----------------------------------

    3 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    3 bottles of root beer.

    Take one down, pass it around.

    2 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    -----------------------------------

    2 bottles of root beer on the wall.

    2 bottles of root beer.

    Take one down, pass it around.

    1 bottle of root beer on the wall.

    -----------------------------------

    1 bottle of root beer on the wall.

    1 bottle of root beer.

    Take one down, pass it around.

    Need to buy some more root beer!

    -----------------------------------

    This is what I have so far:

    #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;

    int main()

    {

    for (int i=99; i>=1; i--)

    {

    cout << i << " bottles of Root Beer on the wall\n";

    cout << i << " bottles of Root Beer\n";

    cout << "Take one down, pass it around \n";

    cout << i << " bottles of Root Beer\n\n\n\n";

    }

    }

    Can someone please help? I'm stuck and don't know what to do. Thanks.

  • Depressed and Gay?

    Since I was 13-14 years old, I've always been sad but now I'm 18 and recently its gotten worse. I want to come out to at least 1 family member but I cant handle rejection and they're not okay with homosexuals so that makes me feel alone. I tried hinting to them about it but they don't want to hear it. I also tried to ask "What if my brother was gay?" They reacted negatively and said they don't want to hear about it.

    I'm just whining and complaining about all this but I don't know what to do. I'm alone in this world. Nobody knows about my second life.

  • iPad Mini or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1?

    I am a student pilot pursuing my private pilots license..

    My flight instructor uses an iPad but I'm an Android fan boy.

    I bought an iPad Mini 16 Gigs for charts and as an Electronic Flight Book but then on Groupon I found the Note 10.1 on sale so I bought that too.

    I'm curious on which one I should keep and which one I should return. Both are being shipped and have not arrived yet.

    Which device do you all think would be beneficial to me?
