The bible is totally inconsistent and contradicting:

Matthew 22:37:

"LOVE the lord your god with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind."

Matthew 10:28:

Be AFRAID of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

John 4:18:

"There is NO FEAR in love, but perfect love casts out fear."

God didn't write the bible. He just stars in it. God is imaginary.

Do you participate just to "fit in" or not to offend?

But to you who take the bible literally: What do you think?

I've read a lot of christian fundies predicting something for 2012:

- The rapture

- The 2nd coming of christ

- Obama being the antichrist

You know... All that kind of stuff...

What will they do in 2013 if nothing happened?

Let's read what the bible suggests:

If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB)

Will the fundies

a) kill each other ( sounds good )?

b) ignore the passage ( cherry picking as usual )?

c) claim some form of misunderstanding or mistranslation?

I KNOW THOSE PREDICTIONS ARE NOT ONLY MADE BY CHRISTIANS.

Christians claim that every answer is to be found in the bible and often bash every other point of view ( often without understanding it - see: evolution ).

A lot of us atheists have read and studied the bible.

But which one of you christians has actually made the effort to study a different point of view by reading and understanding one of the following books:

1. Richard Dawkins - The god delusion

2. Bobby Henderson - The gospel o.t. flying spaghetti monster

3. Stephen Hawking - The universe in a nutshell

4. Charles Darwin - The origin of species

5. Similar: Please state title!

Religious people seem to think that the "science vs. religion" debate is a matter of

Belief in the bible - vs. - "Belief" in science

or

"knowledge" provided by the bible - vs. - knowledge provided by scientific facts.

Don't they know the difference between "knowing" and "believing"?

Are they incapable of telling fact from religious fiction?

I've read several times that christians say:

"The fact that scientific evidence shows that Earth is approx. 4.5 billion years old and the evidence for evolution don't contradict the 7-day-story from Genesis."

The argument is mainly that a day for god might be millions of years for humans. OK.. acceptable so far..

But how do they explain this:

- fact: aquatic mammals and birds evolved from land-living animals.

- bible: land living animals were created on day 6, birds and aquatic animals were created on day 5.

Honestly: How can anyone seriously vote for McCain? That was one of the most idiotic speeches I've ever heard.

By the way: I'm European.

I'm thinking of a place to worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster..

What would you fellow Pastafarians suggest for it?

Any special architecture / decoration / rituals to be performed?

How would you imagine HIS temple/church?

And how would you call it?

So many people are in denial of our true deity. We know that it was HIM who created Earth, humans, dinosaur bones to confuse us and all the other gods. It is the only truth because it is written in the only true gospel, the gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

How can one deny HIS noodlyness, reject strippers and beer volcanoes in the afterlife and instead prefer eternal boredom in what they blasphemously call "heaven"? What could a pirate do to open their eyes and lead them to the path of the pasta?

Although I don't consider myself a christian or religious person in general, I accept that the universe was created by the big bang through the action of a higher being of some sort.

Don't you think that by denying the big bang and evolution and instead believing in the biblical creation diminishes the effort of "god"? Wouldn't you think that creating a universe with the big bang within a glimpse of a second, a universe which developes over billions of years, a universe that is able to produce life in all possible places, life which is capable of adapting to all possible circumstances - to conclude: a self organizing system of a size and complexity far too great for any human being to fully comprehend - would make "god" seem even more powerful and "his" creation even by far greater?

Why stick to the biblical version when it's scientifically proven that it's wrong AND the scientist version would give more glory to your "god"?

Eine Frau lädt zu ihrem Geburtstag ihre 4 Verehrer ein, um sich an dem Abend für einen zu entscheiden. Einer nach dem Anderen kommt durch irrwitzige Unfälle zu Tode. Als sie die 4 Leichen in der Bude liegen hat, kommt ihre Schwester mit zig Leuten für eine Überrschungsfete.
