please help!!! Will my guinea pig be ok?

I was carrying my guinea pig down the stairs he got spooked by the dog who just ran up the stairs and jumped out of my hands and fell and hit 6 stairs plus the landing and hit his head and back on the front door and started convulsing. My sister checked his spine and said she heard a "pop" sound when she touched it. He is walking around his cage now <about an hour after the fall> but very slowly and seems to have full function of his legs but when I pet him he starts squealing! I would take him to the vet but there isn't one any where near where I'm living that knows how to treat guinea pigs. Is there anything I can give him for pain? And how can I insure he's alright?

Update:

I've tried to find a vet but none of them treat guinea pigs. I've got him in his cage now sleeping on his blanket. I really wish there was more that I could do

Update 2:

Rhalina Fassett-Kelly: he squeals when you touch his back, side and leg. I didn't see any bone or any lumps or anything.

don't listen to the idiot ricky

watch him over the next few days if he seems to get better then he should be fine just don't touch him it might cause him pain. If he doesn't seem to be getting better you should find the nearest Veterinarian clinic and call them see if they can treat guinea pigs if they can (some do and if they don't most of them will at least try) make an appointment (the earlier the better)

the pop your sister heard could have been his spine realigning, the equivalent to a human cracking their knuckles (harmless caused by air trapped under the joints) or something more serious (probably no because he's walking).

    hope this helps

Oh wow, I am sorry to hear that! To insure he's alright the only thing you can do is take him to the vet. Does he normally squeal when you touch him? Is it just when you touch his back? Is he ok if you touch his legs or stomach? I'd say the squealing is due to pain, esp. if it is in only a certain area. Head wounds and convulsions in anything is something that needs to be check out by a professional. I am not sure as to anything for pain. You might want to look at a popular guinea pig board and ask about some temporary pain meds. Or call a vet that handles guinea pigs and see what they say.

Also is there anything sticking out of his body (bones in particular)? You'll need a vet either way.

The fact that he is walking already is a really good sign. That mean he is not paralyzed and has likely not broken his back. He may just be really bruised. See how he is tomorrow, if he still seems in pain, call up a vet and ask if they can do anything. They may have painkillers for young kittens and puppies that would work for him.

That sounds like a really bad fall, the only thing I can suggest is taking him to a veterinarian. Even one that treats dogs and cats might at least be able to give you some advice. If not, you will just have to keep him as comfortable/warm as possible and hope for the best.

give him awhile to rest without any disruption (go out to eat or take a nap or something) when you get back gently pet him and see if he is in pain take him to the vet (it may not be an option to wait)even if he doesn't appear to be in pain it is better to be safe then sorry.

whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE HIM PAINKILLERS!!! one type of painkiller humans use is actually deadly to guineapigs but i can't remember which one >.<

you should really get your guineapig to a vet, ask your mum to drive you or something
