I have a video of Sam Harris answering that question extremely well. He does not criticize in this segment, just explains. It is 2:39 in duration. Why not have an understanding for atheists just ignoring your and any other god.

If they marry the opposite sex then they just propagate their gay genes and we will have gays forever. Btw, this logic does not work on me but it may work on you.
