Is it surprising or not surprising that Christians do not realize that god is a deceiver?

and what kind of God deceives His own prophets (the ones who are supposed to spread God's message) ? i posted this b4 but xtians danced around it somehow or ignored it or just play it off as metaphorical

I have seen you before. You remind me of a lawyer searching for any loop hole he could find. Of course you are not the first. Satan figured he had found a loop hole to exploit. He thought he was smarter than God. Is that your thinking?

As to your thinking about Ezekiel. Did God actually lie when he indicated a deception? No. God just did not correct him. Remember, God reads hearts. So a self proclaimed prophet determines and speaks his own ideas. If you really want to see all sides of the issue, you might want to read Jeremiah, the whole book. There you will see real prophets of God and those who are not. And how God feels about and treats those who falsely claim to speak for God.

So the very best way to view what you see in Eze 14 is God allowing the prophet to stay self deceived. He treats them the same way Jesus regarded the false religious leaders of his day. Look at Mathew 13 for a clue.

clever, trimming the words of this passage warning about false prophets in a way that makes it look like God is a deceiver. Of course if you read Eze 14 you will realize he is saying that prophets speak for God, so that if the prophet lies, its the same as if God lies, and God says he will smite them down for doing that.

9 And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

14:9 prevailed upon. God will deceive (entice) a false prophet only in a qualified sense. When one willfully rejects His Word, He places a resulting cloud of darkness, or permits it to continue, hiding the truth so that the person is deceived by his own obstinate self-will. This fits with the same principle as when God gives up Israel to evil statutes (20:25, 26), counsel that they insist on as they spurn His Word (20:24, 26). When people refuse the truth, He lets them seek after their own inclinations and gives them over to falsehood (20:39). In short, God deceives those who deceives them self to let their evil be fulfilled until eternal judgement.
