I am helping a friend move from Phoenix, AZ, to NC and we want to avoid the I-10. We are moving mid-July and the heat will be too much for his horse if we go through El Paso. The I-40 is a much cooler route, so I was wondering what the most efficient route will be.

AZ-87 to the 260, then through Holbrook: Not an option as construction will have the roads closed.

AZ-87 through Payson to Winslow: Decent option, only adds 20 miles over above route.

I-17 to the I-40 through Flagstaff: Probably has the least steep paths, but adds 80 miles over the Route 260 option.

We will have a 26' Uhaul truck towing a 3,000 pound car on an auto transport. The truck will likely be around 75% full.

Which path will be more efficient? The I-17 will probably be more fuel efficient with better grades, but the added distance may totally negate that advantage. What does the Yahoo world think?

When I am stopped at a red light, my dash lights randomly get dim and the radio sometimes cuts out. When I am driving along, all the electrical systems work normally. My battery and alternator have been replaced within the last year. There are no signs of corrosion or fouling, nor do any warning lights come on when the dimming occurs. It occurs when I am stopped, and in Drive. When I switch to Neutral or Park, I do not see the lights dim. When the lights do get dim, it feels like the engine starts to labor a bit. Any ideas as to what can be wrong? 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6.

If a 13L big diesel engine can produce 400 hp at 1800 rpm, and a 7L diesel can produce 400 hp at 3600 rpm, but the 13L produces twice the torque, which would produce more electricity?

One of my professors told me about a company from Japan that partnered with a company in the United States to sell VCRs. The Japanese company (maybe Sony) made the VCRs and the American company sold them under their name. The story is that once the VCRs had an established market, the Japanese company went to the American company's distributors and cut deals directly with them, leaving the American company out of the loop. Try as I may, I cannot find any information to substatiate this. Does anybody know anything about this?

I had a licensed mechanic perform an evac and recharge on my car's A/C. I think they screwed up because now my compressor's clutch is burned out. When I heard "evac and recharge," I would think that they would pull out the freon plus the oil and dye, then refill with new freon, oil, and dye. Is my assumption valid?
