How do i give two computers in my LAN equal bandwith for Online Gaming and Torrents?
The situation is as follows:
We have two PC's and two Laptops
Wife uses one PC ,mainly for Torrents
I use one mainly for work and gaming online (FPS)
She gets online with Torrents and the quality of my FPS goes through the crapper! I could ask her to change the settings on her Torrent Client but i would rather have the router just give us equal speed without need of her touching her client back and forth, contingent to whether i'm gaming or not.
We both use wireless laptops mainly for web browsing.
Q.1 How do i configure my network so our the bandwidth given by our ISP gets splitted equally?
(I heard that i had to use QoS on the router... is that it?)
Q2. What kind of Wireless Switch/Router would you recommend for that purpose?
Q3. Do you know of any websites that cover a detailed "HOW TO" on this? Step by step or diagrams?
Thanks a bunch!!!

I hope military buffs can help on this one.
I have my characters (Two guys) on a boat, at night, mild climate ocean, near a small island.
There are choppers patrolling the area. They are NATO and US forces.
Question1: Would they have Infrared or thermographic scanners, or both?
Question2: What would my two characters need to do to avoid detection on those scanners?
Thanks a bunch guys and gals.

I keep reading from different sources that our current Federal Banking system goes against what the founding fathers intended.
It seems they intended government to issue their own money, not delegate that to a private entity.
Some questions (Best answer award given to who answers the most, and in more detail)
1. Do you agree , and what is your opinion on the matter?
2. Can you list links of legitimate organizations that are politically trying to get this changed?
3. Has Fort Knox ever been audited and how often? (Is our gold still there?)
4. Why should our government pay interest on issuing our own money?
Thanks.

7 AntwortenInternational Organizationsvor 1 JahrzehntHow do you deal with the concept of offensiveness?
The US is a country that touts freedom of expression as a prime tenet of their cultural system
But in the last 20 years the US seems to have made a move towards politic-correctness that at times seems to detract from that freedom of expression, all in the name of “Not being offensive”
This article of the Wall Street Journal explains how a Danish newspaper protected its right to print a cartoon of Mohamed that considered offensive by a large portion of the Muslim world, but they wanted to protect their freedom of expression, when paired with the right to parody and joke.
On the other hand, Yale University Press decided to remove the cartoons from a book it had agreed to publish called "The Cartoons That Shook the World," by Brandeis University Prof. Jytte Klausen. Yale claimed that it was censoring not based on content but because of the risk of violence.
What is your take?
1) Should we curb back on freedom of expression for fear of offending some one?
2) And what is an offense? Anything that bothers you? Or things said with the intention to offend?
3) If I don’t know you are Jewish, and someone playfully calls you swine, should you get offended? Or If I call you stingy when I see you tipping someone less than the customary, and the service was adequate, should you feel offended because I am expressing my opinion of you, and should I be chastised?

The Brookings Report or Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs, was commissioned by NASA and created by the Brookings Institution; it was submitted to the House of Representatives in the 87th United States Congress on April 18, 1961.
Some conspiracy theorists point to a small section of the report and claim that it advocated a government cover-up of evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Can you answer these questions as honestly as possible? (I am not trolling nor trying to make fun of anyone's belief system. I just want to get an idea of how people would react to the following scenario:)
Please refrain answering out of the scope of the question, and try not to give answers like "No, it is impossible, cause my God tells me its Impossible." or "My sacred books says it is impossible!, so your question is stupid"
It just an honest though exercise.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If in tomorrow we were visited by an Alien race (out of space, another galaxy or planet, it doesn't matter what they look like, it is just a thought exercise), with established intelligence and technology, and they were to impart knowledge on their own beliefs (religions)....
1) How would your religion (institutional religion, not personal belief) feel about it? If you are not sure, can you ask your pastor, minister, preacher, wise person, and tell us?
2) Would this in any way make you rise doubts about what you belief?
and more difficult
3) How would you reconcile (if you need to reconcile) that with what you believed previously (if there are any contradictions)
I will try to keep this question open as long as possible.
Thanks to all for posting. I will be reading each and everyone of your answers with great care and attention.
19 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntShould the United Nations be changed of location every Year?
As you may know, the United Nations is a diplomatic organization that puts together representatives from different countries, to deal with their problems and stimulate cooperation.
Since the early 1950's it has been located in New York City, USA, by 59th street and 1st Avenue.
A friend of mine who lives in the city informed me of something very interesting:
Most New Yorkers hate the United Nations being in their city.
The cite quality of life issues, mainly.
Diplomats have large areas reserved for private parking, and NO ONE else can park in the streets allocated to them. You park, you get towed, and have to pay the $350.00 towing fee and the $150.00 Fine to get your car back.
But on the other hand, the city it is owed millions of dollars on parking fines from these diplomats, since they have diplomatic immunity, they just park wherever they want, (in front of hydrants, handicap spots, etc)
and then they never pay the fines, citing the beforementioned immunity.
Recently a study passed among real-state agents in midtown Manhattan show that the prohibitive rent prices in midtown are fueled mainly by diplomats, who don't care how much they spend in rent, but get the most lavish apartments, all paid for by their respective governments.
That makes apartments in the area priced out of range for most middle class New Yorkers, and basically, prices them out of midtown.
Similar reasoning applies to the area stores, that are so used to cater to costumers whose AMEX are being bankrolled by a foreign government, they don't mind closing an Armani store just for them, so they can shop in privacy.
QUESTION1:
Would it make sense to mandate that UN gets relocated every ... 4 years (just like the Olympic Games) to different States, like for example Utah, Colorado, or Iowa, so they can benefit from this stimulus and influx on foreign personnel?
QUESTION2:
How Often should they be moved?
QUESTION3:
Should they also be hosted by other countries, not just the US?
12 AntwortenInternational Organizationsvor 1 JahrzehntHow to train a 5 month old puppy to go on long walks, without stopping or being stubborn?
We rescued a 5 month old female pit-bull mutt (mixed with terrier and Lab we think)
She is sweet and obedient, happy and intelligent.
But is a scary-cat. Probably she was abused before, not sure, but gets jumpy around any sudden sounds, and trembles.
We have want to walk her for 30 minutes 3 times a day during the weekday (we both work) and even more on the weekends.
But lately, she just sites and tries to go back home.
We are getting different feedback from acquaintances.
1)Be patient and just do what she says till she learns to trust you. She will tell you when she is ready to walk.
2) Be the alpha and tug her collar till she walks. Walk in front make her follow. Don't let her get side tracked or distracted, always focus on you.
3) Bribe her with treats and slowly take her off the treats.
My wife and I have constant arguments about walking her. I am a jogger and would love to take her running with me.
We are not going to return her or anything like that. She is with us to stay. But we would just like a dog to walk, since there we have seen in the big city so many irresponsible owners who are too lazy to walk them, and we are only too eager to do it.
Any assistance, greatly appreciated.

3 AntwortenComics & Animationvor 1 JahrzehntRecommend a Point-and-shoot camera,pls?
Wife and I had a Nikon Coolpix, 5 years old.
Our biggest gripe is that we use it mostly at dusk or at night, and the machine takes very bad pictures in low light. We compared newer cameras from friend, ranging from Canon cybershots, Kodaks and Samsungs, and most of them do a remarkable job at lower light settings, versus ours.
We don't want too much bells and whistles (keyword, point and shoot). Simple menus, video integrated, and finally, decent pictures in low light.
Our budget is under $300.00
Suggestions please?
Thanks
