Is this the worst idea of 2020?
To simulate crowds and crowd noise in games that will be played in empty stadiums, arenas, and ballparks? There's nobody in the crowd, how stupid of an idea is it to simulate crowd noise? Just play the games with silence from the crowds. It is an incredible opportunity to have a very unique experience and they're talking about taking that away in favor of fake crowd noise.

They do it with comedy shows all the time. I think the main reason is to cover up the swearing.

I've seen some German Bundesliga matches where they do this. It'a a little odd when you look at the screen, but seems like a normal game if you're just listening. It wasn't distracting and didn't bother me.

NRL games already have this. It's not bad. Don't mind it at all.

It's the second worst idea of 2020, the worst is the idea of playing professional sports with no fans in attendance.

I agree that it's a bad idea...but 'worst idea of 2020'? Come on? Not even close. There are people talking about abolishing police departments!

Its already happening in some of the football stadiums in Germany, and its better than hearing echoes as the coaches yell out instructions. But I really don't like it to be honest. Plus, the NFL will have to do it to drown out cuss words coming from the players.

This idea actually came from the Biden campaign. They are planning to play fake cheering whenever this idiot gives one of his mumbling incoherent rants. It won't work for this empty-headed grinning clown and it won't work for the NFL.

Debs’ is right, it’s ultimately just a TV show and the crowd noise amplifies the viewing experience. If the TV executives thought otherwise they would have diminished the crowd noise on their end already.

On TV, fake crowd noise has been around for decades (at least the 80s). Mexico is famous for it.
Remember, sports are about money. More TV viewership means more money. If they can get more people to watch with crowd noise, then they're going to do it....because money.
