Can I get internet without paying monthly if I connect a LAN cable to the land line then into my PC?

These are different sockets, different signals and without dsl service you dont have anything to select anyway. All DSL services are monthly not on demand, only back in the day of a modem do you pay as you go, there are some still around but you really cant plug ethernet into a phone socket it wont do anything but wreck your phone.

No you can't get "free" service but you can destroy your LAN card in your computer with that type of connection! The voltage from a standard ringer circuit should be able to eat most ethernet cards in no time at all! Phone lines and network lines are totally different! (That is why MODEMS are used.)

Also, it needs the ISPs "modem" [a DSLAM] connecting to the other end of the phone line for yours to talk to, and an account login to enable that to connect through to the internet..
