Firing a howitzer?

I have an old picture of my father's artillery unit. One shows a soldier about to fire the weapon and it's obvious that he is yelling something. OK, so maybe it's "Fire!" But is that what someone in the military would actually say?

What is the name of the cord that is pulled to fire a howitzer?

What would a soldier yell just before pulling it?

Update:

Just no way to add a photo, is there?

There is an entire process before firing. There's a team around a gun (howitzer) with a leader. In a fire mission, the leader gives which gun is firing, what ammo they use, what kind of fuze they use, deflection and the quadrant elevation.

The leader gives the warning order for a fire mission, 'Fire Mission, Platoon, Gun 3, Shell AP, Lot 15, Charge 4, Fuze quick, Deflection 3011, Quantrant 210." All the numbers are said individual, so it's not "Lot fifteen," it' s pronounced "Lot One-five."

When the gun is loaded, the crewman announces, "Ready, #3," means the gun is laid, loaded, and ready.

The fire command is issued, "Fire, Gun 3," repeated, and the crewmember pulls the lanyard, which fires the round.

The round hits whatever it hits, adjustments are made, and the gun fires again. And the end, the order, 'End of mission" comes and the gun team ceases fire.
