I'm scared to go to college...?

Hi I'm 20 years old and I have a problem skin disease that is very unusual I had gotten it out of high school and I'm embarrass about it. I'm not really sure what to study for and if I do go to college everyone will be so judgemental and stare. I need help please I have low self esteem and not very confident. What do you think will happen? What do you think I should do not to mention I'm very anti social. Do you think I can focus if someone's talking about me like overhearing? I'm very sensitive and let little things get to me. I don't know what to do?

I don't think you should be scared to go to college. If you're concerned about your skin disease on a larger college campus you can always take core classes at a local community college and then transfer to a 4 year school when you're ready and have decided on a degree.

As far as your skin goes, everyone has something wrong with them or doesn't like something about themselves, there are just some things that are more apparent than others when it comes to visually seeing those things or if it's a mental personal problem they have with the thing they don't like about themselves.

If you're able to embrace the disease and feel comfortable being yourself (you're able to be positive and can stand tall, like the disease doesn't existed) people will look past it. Being yourself, positive/happy and determined by what you want to accomplish in life will help people look past something that is "skin deep" not to pun the situation. There are going to be people out there who are only going to judge or make their own assumptions based on how you may look; but if people are choosing to be your friend, fall in love with you or become work associates with you, they're going to look past your physical appearance and will like you for who you are on the inside - that's really what counts. If someone is going to judge you by how you look, they're not worth worrying over.

I hope you do go to college and excel beyond your wildest dreams in the field you choose to study in. Show everyone how bright you can shine!

    Have a great weekend kiddo!

    Just somethings I noticed:

Those without a clear reason to be at college, usually waver and fail.

Those with physical issues are treated normally, it's not High School.

People are usually pretty accepting at college. Yes, there will be a few rude individuals, but don't let that discourage you! You could also maybe take online classes.

You might find that people are more accepting at a small college. I had one classmate with a severe stutter (he could barely get out a sentence) and another with an illness that made it difficult for him to walk, but people understood and just accepted them as they were.
