Hey, in terms of your weight lifting you were told wrong. The physical standards for the Canadian armed Forces (I am assuming you are also Canadian by your display picture) is nearly non - existence. Physically almost anybody can get through it. What instead you need to focus on the mental aspect - lack of sleep, lots of inspections, drill, weapons training, classroom theory with tests, barrack inspections, meeting almost unreasonable timings, dealing with unruly recruits on your platoon, being yelled at for small things and often for no reason at all by instructors.
Its a mental game not a physical game. I went in with the same mind set as you and I went in unprepared, I almost quit. Keep your head up, follow directives and give it your best. Good Luck

How's your stamina - running/jogging?? I would plan on doing a 1 - 2 mile run every morning. Other than the running - push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, parallel bars, etc. Boxing - do it if you like, tho I doubt you'll use it in the army.
If you're young & reasonably good shape, you should have no problems.

timed running is a big part of it. so practice running long distances while timed.
