Will strength help with handstands and other skills?

I am wondering if I was really really REALLY strong (20 pull ups, 20 hanging leg raises...) if that would make doing skills like press handstands easier?

I want to do press handstands from p-bars, do all the cool handstand things contortionists do (I am very flexible) and urgently want to improve tumbling (BHS, front handsprings, flicks and twists)

I was wondering if you were pure muscle, if that would help learning these skills quicker and if so, what you think how long it will take? 1 year? 5 years? 10 years? - with about 10 hours training a week of course!

Yes it will help you need mostly core and shoulder muscles but if you just want to do hand stands you don't really need muscle just balance .

You are on the right track for sure. Conditioning is crucial for the skills you wish to attain. Gymnasts are huge, not from practicing skills over and over again, but from strength conditioning so that they can practice skills at that intensity without sustaining injury.

You must condition every part of your body and stretch out afterwards too. So keep doing what you are doing and add to it.
