Why has society dumbed down to think "u mad" is a good response?

In the '90s people were verbally brutal. There were many insults that were clever and hilarious, but also rough. Now, whenever someone says something insulting, "Mad?" is all a kid can think about to respond. 

Why has this generation become so soft, so uncreative, that they have to turn to this modern version of "I know you are, but what am I?"

I understand kids can't come up with a good response or they become too intimidated to attempt to accept the challenge, but I'm curious why? Why did the generations get worse instead of progress? Society has been getting more creative and harsher, then suddenly a brick wall of stupidity.

To be honest, I am in the generation you are talking about and I must say, I have always wondered the same thing. I think it definitely has a lot to do with how my generation grew up with technology and that has a lot to do with why we lack so much creativity. We often don't use our own intelligence because we are so dependent on technology that we lack creativity and many other things. 
Although our technology is advancing, it is dumb(ing) the children down, making them lazy and stupid.

I'm 16 and I'll rip kids all the time. Everyone knows that if you say u mad? You lose all respect lol. People nowadays I feel are just stupider. (See, my point?) No but really I agree. I think that its because kids nowadays are content with just sitting around all day and not actual having any human contact. Then when they are in a fight, they just ask siri what to say.
