My ex-husband wants me to get and an insurance policy on him?

So, we have been divorced for 4 years ( no children), but have remain close friends, this week he asked me to get life insurance on him, he said that I was the only person he could trust if something should ever happen to him ( he is right). I asked him if he was sick or something, but he said nothing was wrong with him, he wants me to be able to bury him and he wants me to be financially secure. I joked with him, if I get insurance and something happens to him, the authorities would think I set him up or something. Is it even possible to get insurance on someone you are no longer married to? I do not know what type of insurance to get or what is a normal premium, I have always had insurance through my job! Can someone help me with this, by the way, he smokes cigarettes and we both are 33 years old.

    Yep, it's perfectly possible, with his consent and cooperation. Not a problem. He'll have to start the paperwork, have the paramedical exam, etc.

    and he can look into a cheaper life ins if he wants to take it out..and that is

    term life/decreasing...the amount goes down over time...for whatever amt

    he wants to start with for what ever period he wants, but no reason he cant

    take out policy of what ever type and put your name on it unless he feels the

    family will fight it, but there's no way to fight a beneficiary on a policy ...its an

    automatic hand out unless he were to die suspiciously.

    Why would you want to pay for insurance on your ex-husband? Have him buy the insurance if he wants it. He can make you the beneficiary if you wants.

    You may have difficulty taking out a policy on him, but he can take one out on himself and make you a beneficiary.

    Your question is way too long for me to read, so if you answered my question sorry. Why doesn't he get a policy so he is the one making the payments, and name you as beneficiary?

    I don't know why he wants YOU to BUY insurance on him.

    Wouldn't it be appropriate for HIM to BUY life insurance for himself and make you the beneficiary.

    Yup, no problem at all.

    Premium will be expensive for a smoker (double what it would have been otherwise), but that isn't your concern.
