How can I learn to cook?

Your Mum won't teach you? Does she say why? I've never heard of a mother not wanting her daughter to learn how to cook. It's just one of those things.

But if your Mum won't teach you there are still things you can do. The first thing is to watch what she does in the kitchen. We all have our tips and tricks that we do and you can gain a lot of information simply by watching. You will of course need to ask questions otherwise you might wind up doing something that you thought was necessary to the end result when in reality it was done for practical reasons.

If that is not an option then there is youtube, cooking shows, books and other such resources for teaching novices their way around the kitchen and how to prepare simple dishes. Once you've mastered things like turning on the stove and boiling water you can move on to more complex things like making grilled cheese sandwiches and cooking eggs. Remember, you need to learn the basics before you can try the harder stuff.

And if you're really serious about this and you don't have a grandmother, aunt, neighbour, friend, friend's mother / aunt / grandmother / cousin or anybody else that can show you the basics and how to cook then you should take a course. Night school is always an option or things going on at the community centre could be a place to start.

You can find cooking gurus there and you get lots of easy recipes, just try and start learning!

Google:

You may find websites like wikihow or ehow or anything on google that would help you start cooking,just do a small research and you will find something.

Recipe & Cooking Books?:

You can go to any library and ask for the best recipe and cooking book, that's only if you like reading books.

Instant Food?!:

Yes. Instant food exists in a grocery store, go there and get some instant noodles cup. You simply open the cup and put all the ingredients you get in the cup, then add hot water and cover it with a lid. That makes the trick.

Tip:

Try getting 2 slices of bread and make your favorite sandwich.

EXAMPLE: I got some cheese and tomatoes, I will make a sandwich.

It's an easy way to start cooking and making things.

What I advise you to do is either look online for a cook book or go to a nearby book store and buy a few cook books there. they will have all the ingredients for your meal listed and you can find most at any grocery store. they are rather good. there is a book that I found at my old high school that had really good recipes in it. I'll have to get into contact with the librarian.

The best source of information (after the normal mother) is the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. People don't know what they don't know so they shouldn't try to learn cooking from the internet. The BH&G cookbook has lots of pictures and descriptions to teach a person how to cook as well as a lot of basic recipes.

Maybe if you buy the cookbook and read it, your mom will see you are serious. Apparently she wants you to live with her forever.

Get a good job, or find a rich husband. If you can't turn on the oven at 20 you are NEVER going to learn to cook.

The way to the man's heart is through his stomach. You will learn how to cook through trial and error when you have a family. Its not hard to learn to cook. There are cooking books, on line help and all it takes is dedication, patience and practice. Like all professional cook or chef, they start by being a sous chef. You learn by observing, watching and remembering all the tips, techniques and processes involved in cooking. Your mother won't teach you but you can always assist her in the kitchen and learn with your eyes *

Recipe books or just watch your mom. My mom didn't teach me either. She believes in "Watching and learning," if a 11 year old could do it which is the first time I cooked, you can too.

Learn it online...Youtube is the best source for many cooking demonstrations.Same time you can check other step by step recipes in websites & also can check recipe books.

Use youtube, go to a cooking class there is also a site called punchfork with a lot of amazing recipes you can try to make and their really easy too.
