Do you think Isaac was traumatized by almost being killed by Abraham for god?

I was just reading Genesis 22:1-16 and i thought that i would be so upset at my father if he took me to a mountain and tried to kill me because God said to. That had to scare the cheese wiz out of him at some point. :)

Some say it was Ismael...in any case it sets a horrible precedent and has led many a mentally unstable person down a murderous path.

It must have been hard for Abraham to understand the command God had given him. It showed his deep trust and obedience to God.

Abraham had been a childless old man with a barren wife and God had promised him that a great nation would come out of him.

Isaac could have run away but instead he permitted his old father to carry out the command.

Obviously Isaac must have had the strong trust and faith in God as well.

Look up James 2:23 and Hebr 11:17-19 where Abraham is called God's friend

The sacrifice was illustrative, it typified the painful and real sacrifice given by God in our behalf.

Isaac's willingness to die foreshadowing Jesus Christ willingly submitting to His father's will.

God did not want Abraham to sacrifice his son and that is why he stopped him.

But reading through it we can learn from the great faith Abraham and Isaac showed and the enormous gift that was provided by a real sacrifice.

For all my questions. Have found the following link very helpful

I think Isaac would understand, because he believes in God, and he knows the degree of seriousness one has to be in things pertaining to God. Also, Abraham loved Isaac very much. He was afraid, confused, and he was telling God, that it is hard for him to do this. But at the same time Abraham trusted God. God is not a God who kills, and is pleased by human sacrifice... it was merely a test of faith in Abraham. "The angel appeared to Abraham right before he was about to sacrifice his one and only beloved son, and said "Behold, God is pleased with you Abraham. Do not lay hands on him...Go and sacrifice the lamb there in the bush". And Abraham released his son, and took the lamb and sacrificed that instead. This is to show that Abraham trusted in God in everything, even his one and only beloved son.

God promised Abraham that his descendants, through Isaac, would be more numerous than the stars. Isaac probably thought that a) God would not go through with the sacrifice or b) God would raise him from the dead. I think he had complete trust in God.

The story of Abraham and Issac is sick to it's core. I was raised Jewish but soon realized that I did not want to belong to a club where the Founding Father was honored for being ready, willing and able to murder his own son because a voice in his head told him too.

Yeah, If any of them had been real people it would have.

If they had been real people I imagine Isaac would have killed crazy old Abe.

Self preservation is a huge motive.

It was too dark for him to see what was happening.
