I keep trying to grow a beard so that I can look like Abraham or Moses, but when I do, my parents keep telling me to shave it off.
Is it possible for any lay person to become holier than a monk, a nun, or a priest?
St. Mary of Egypt comes to mind. But she basically lived most of her life in the desert.
The Virgin Mary, wasn't 'officially' a religious nun, but she did live a chaste life, and consecrated her virginity to God.
Pretty much all I can think of at the moment. Do you know if it's possible?
12 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenDo you think it's slightly easier for religious nuns, and monks, and priests to stay holy?
I find it harder to remain in the state of sanctifying grace (i.e., to remain holy) while living in the secular world, and I find that nuns, monks, and priests have it better for them since they live near a tabernacle, their job is to go to Mass frequently (priests must do Mass for the people), and they have a regular schedule of praying. It's like living in a school that prepares those persons to become holy and holy. And living in the city, far from a tabernacle, with not a lot of priests nearby, and temptations much easily abounding makes it harder for us, secular-living people, or the laity, to become holy. What do you think?
2 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenIs it possible to have a Catholic nun as your spiritual director (if your'e a man)?
I have a Spiritual Director who is a Catholic Priest. But I was wondering if (as a male), that I could also have a Spiritual Director that is a Catholic religious sister, or a Carmelite nun?
5 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenIs it enough evidence to say that the Catholic Church is the One true Church because it has survived 2000yrs?
Do you not think that it is the working of the Holy Spirit, that the Catholic Church has been alive ever since Christ Ascended into Heaven?
18 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenWhy do people like to meditate on self-help books, and not on the Bible?
14 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenWouldn't life be so much more easier if we trusted God in EVERYTHING?
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
10 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 9 JahrenWhy do Jews and Muslims find it hard to believe in Jesus Christ?
It says in Scripture, in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; that after Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried, he rose from the dead on the third day, and that he appeared to many of his disciples.
He also, said that he is the from the Father, and that he and the Father are one.
And if you read what he says in Scripture, you will be amazed by what he says, because of his great wisdom, and his great love for the people.
