How can I get a cd out of my stuck cd tray? (Toshiba laptop)?

Question

The cd tray on my laptop is stuck in a slightly outward position. It pops out as far as it normally does when you push eject but it won't slide out any farther. I can move it from this position all the way in the laptop, but it won't catch and read the cd. I've tried the paperclip technique but getting it to pop out isn't the problem. I've tried pulling on it but that just ripped off the paneling (which I reattached).

I'm probably just going to take it to Best Buy but if I could find a DIY solution that would be much appreciated.

I don't know if this is true of Toshiba, but on HP laptops, it's possible to eject the entire CD drive.  There's a slide or lever that does that somewhere.  If you can take out the whole drive, you can examine it to see if  the latch that holds the drive closed has the notch broken off.  If it is broken, you can get a whole new drive.  The price will be better from newegg, amazon, or possibly eBay, compared to a walk-in store.

Simple. On the CD-ROM there is a small tiny hole. Get a needle and shove the needle all the way in. it was open up the cd-rom manually.

could be that your motive force application have been given deleted or that's a short in between the wires best on your cdpersistent. bypass to start>administration Panel> device> gadget supervisor and notice what cdpersistent you have and notice in case you have any yellow exclamation marks.

USE A STRAIGHT PIN, LOOK AT THE SIDE OF IT, YOU WILL SEE A SMALL PIN HOLE, STICK THE PIN IN UNTIL THE TRAY POPS OPEN, AND THAT'S IT FROM A COMPUTER TECHS.
