Is it possible for an Army Reserve soldier volunteer for a month worth of training instead of two weeks?
I need to know if its possible for a reserve soldier to volunteer for training for a month out of state instead of 2 weeks in state.
Usually its one weekend in Upstate NY, then two weeks but if someone volunteered to go for a month to a different state, is that common, does the army reserves do this if there is no plans for the soldier to be deployed.
Clear answers would be great! As much info as you can give!
But annual training is only suppose to be 2 weeks, right?
Can someone in the reserves volunteer for more than the 2 weeks of training?

Speak with your Unit Advisor. I'm sure something can be worked out for the benefit of both you and your unit.
Many people in my old units could not make the Annual Training...they opted to come in during the week and do something else.
At the very least, all he/she can say is 'no'.
EDIT:
Sure, you can volunteer a lot more of your time. Your unit just has to want you there and have enough funds to pay you.
Have you thought about doing AGR (active guard/reserve)? It's like active duty, but you do it there at your Guard/Reserve station.
