would working for banfield make a vet a less attractive candidate to another practice?

my wife is a new graduate veterinarian and currently looking for a job in florida. she has seen some practices that she likes but private practices have basically said that they would be very upset if they had to give maternity leave in the first 2 years which is a problem for us as we are hoping to try for a baby next year. banfield said that maternity is not a problem with them. banfield also offer better benifits and pay which unfortunately is a big thing for us as we have huge student loans to pay off. they have a much better health care programme and will cover me too which is good as i work in construction and will probably find it hard to find a job offering health care. our biggest problem with this is that we are worried that if we try to move on to a new practice in say 2 years will other practices look at her cv and be put off by the fact that she worked for banfield

That's an excellent question and something I've been wondering myself. I will be graduating next year and Banfield seems to be one of the few places anxious to hire new grads. So many other practices are struggling right now and not considering new grads for open positions or only want part-time associates. Personally, I think that Banfield can be a good place for a new grad to practice for a few years but as you probably know most experienced vets don't want anything to do with them. I think your question would be better answered by practice owners and I don't think many hang out on Yahoo answers. You should tell her to ask on VIN if she hasn't graduated yet then it's free otherwise it's pretty expensive but she could probably has a friend or classmate to ask for her.
