Navy question - What's in this picture?

In this picture of the USS Midway being docked in San Diego, there's a lot of brown stuff in the water around the ship as tugs maneuver it into position. Is this mud, or oil, or what? How much clearance does this ship have from the bottom once it's docked?

It's all mud, algae, and possibly sewage that has all been kicked up by such a massive ship. Since the **** displaces thousands upon thousands of gallons of water, it probably is relatively close to the bottom... although for this ship, "relatively close" is probably about 25 - 100ft. rest assured that it has plenty of clearance from the bottom, the Navy would dock a historic and pricey (about 300 million $) ship somewhere where it could get stuck, damaged, or beached.

that's mud. the harbor is shallow enough that the movement of the ship kicks up dirt

its sand at the bottom where would the mud come from? although it could also be algae.
