What do guys like more: flirts or shy girls?

However, I prefer flirts because they are easy to get along with and they are more fun to talk to. Shy girls are like statues or dummies who just sit there. I mean, if I wanted to talk to a statue, I would rather talk to a statue than a girl who gets annoying after a while; still say nothing interesting; expects the guy to do everything in the one-sided interaction; and is more dull than watching paint dry.

I would recommend you to open up, take some initiative, be a little more sociable, be a little more interesting and go with the flow once in a while. Taking a page out of her book may be a good thing, but make sure you are doing things that would benefit you instead of working against you. Guys will vary in their understanding in girls, have different values, want different things from girls and see the world in different ways, so even if you do act more flirty, you will get different opinions from different guys.

I recommend you take the initial baby step of talking a little more and being a little more interactive first. Who knows, this could be all you need. However, it doesn't hurt for you to learn a little more from your friend, but keep only a mental note about what she does.

Be yourself! If you want to be flirty, go ahead but you can flirt while being shy too.....just have to know how.

It feels better when a girl talks to you more than she talks to other people, especially if she starts talking to you more and more as you get to know each other better. The best relationships are ones that feel deserved, however you won't create as many opportunities that way. It's quantity vs. quality, your choice.
