My cockatiel humps everything, all the time. Any way to get him to stop or at least ease up?
He's 11 years old, and humps everything-toys, his cage, perches, dishes...everything. And he does it all the time, he does it at least five times a night. He's not getting a female and it's embarrassing when I have guests. I yell at him but he thinks that's funny. Anybody know of a way to get him to stop??

He just needs a mate. Probably won't stop the humping until he gets one.

You can try to limit the amount of light he gets. If you notice, in the spring and summer when the days are longest, birds are mating and nesting. They cease mating behavior as the days get shorter with winter.
Try scheduling covering the cage and allowing it to remain covered for at least 12 hours. If you notice, in the winter months daylight is only around 8-9 hours a day. So by limiting his natural light intake to what would be natural in the wild, you'll reduce his hormones--thus, he won't want to mate everything in sight. :D
