how often did you or your children get lice?
today my neighbor informed her children had lice. not a big deal, it happens. my husband and i were talking about it as i was going through my kids hair (all clear!) and we were wondering how often the average american child gets lice. i remember getting it about once a year. my husband has only had it once, and his sister only twice. he says that is the norm but i disagree. so i am doing an informal poll. thanks for all your answers!
i don't think the family is "dirty." lice are very common, especially among school age kids. i was just wondering how often the average child got lice throughout their entire childhood.
i got it so much because we had cousins who did not take care of it when they would get it and we didn't realize who it was coming from for a while.
so far i'm kind of surprised. i guess i always thought that lice happened to almost everybody, at least those not home schooled.

Once a year or twice. We all just had it, by the way: kids, hubby and me. Not a nice thing to have !!

Honestly, I have never had lice, nor have my children (7&12), but my husband did have lice once growing up. I work in the school system and I can tell you that lice are very common. Now, I am knocking wood ~~ cause I don't want them.

I have never gotten head lice! However, my children did. When I found eggs in their hair, I would use the lice shampoo on mine. I would also bomb my house, wash all bed covers, I kept the spray on hand and sprayed my car, I also got big garbage bags and put all stuffed animals in the bag and placed it in the attic. I pulled the mattress off th bed, sprayed it. Then we all would leave for 24 to 48 hours. I of course did all the washing, nit combing etc. to my child's head. I think its normal for a child to get head lice. It possible for them to get it every year from school. As an adult, its very possible to catch it from the child but I did not. I do know several tho who did. Its just all according to the school you attended and if they had bad breakouts of head lice. Sounds like your husband was lucky by not getting it.

My kids have never had it. I know one family where the oldest brought it home one year and than later on in the same year, the younger one brought them home.
It doesn't mean that the family is 'dirty' (I got the impression that you think it is something the neighbor is doing wrong?). Lice are contagious to all people.
Like I said, we have never had it and I hope not to. My oldest is 9. Some families get it often.

I got lice once when I was around 7 and my sister got lice when she was 10, I don't think anyone else in our family had lice.

Me never and my kids never. No one is my family has ever gotten it. Actually at the school we have gone to there has only been about 2-3 lice "outbreaks". That means when a couple kids get lice they alert it so its doesn't get any worse.
There HAS to be a reason why your family is getting it so much.

I've never had lice. Neither has my sister. Or any of my friends. Or her friends. You got it every YEAR? That's way more then normal.
