Injury at bus shelter?
Bus shelters have these mini slanted seats. Has anyone every had an mishap on those. My friend went to sit on one and promptly fell off breaking her ankles. She was immediately operated on and stayed two weeks in hospital. After she was discharged, a further operation had to be done and a further two weeks in hospital. I wonder has anyone else had any mishaps with these seats.
My friend wrote to complain and was told there was nothing defective with the seating, After the written complaint the seat has now been changed, it no longer slants, it is now level.
Why would they do that?
The question here is not whether or not to sue, but why would the bus company change that particular seat when the rest of the country has slanted seats?

How do you fall off a seat and break your ankles?
If you are sitting or attempting to sit on a seat your feet will be on the ground.
the only way that I can see that this could happen is if the person was standing or attempting to stand on the seat or being under the influence of a substance which rendered them unable to balance. In either case the fault lies with them because any injury would be self inflicted.
On the subject of suing bus companies. You will get nowhere because bus companies do not own the shelters, it is the local council or if you are in a Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) area, the local PTE authority and council.

They are not going to admit any wrongdoing but by changing the seat proves it was defective. Call a lawyer, she should at least get her medical bills paid and her other expenses.

i know in my town the bus company are not responsible for the shelters its the local council have you checked who altered the seat

Fortunaltly i haven't had any mishaps with a bus shelter set, i'm sorry to hear about your friend hope she is alright now. I have seen adverts on TV about injury lawyers for you try contacting them instead of the previous one, i've heard they are very good, hope this helps

Tell "your friend" (it's you, right?) to learn how to sit down on a damn seat. It doesn't take a genius to figure these things out. Suing people over your own incompetence is only for the sleaziest of people.

just put a claim in if they have replaced the seat they accept liability!!!!!!!!!!!!
