When do Naruto specials and movies take place?

I assume you are trying to watch everything in chronological order?

The OVA's and Movies do not fit neatly into the Naruto timeline. The viewer has to use identifiers to determine when it takes place.

All 4 OVA's take place before Shippuden, and before Sasuke leaves, and all after the Chuunin Tournament.

Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow takes place sometime between Naruto retrieving Tsunade, as he knows the Rasengan, but before Sasuke leaves.

It is presumed that the 2nd movie(Legend of the Stone of Gelel) takes place sometime after Sasuke's departure, and before Shippuden.

The 3rd movie(Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom) is believed to take place after the 2nd movie, due to the change in uniform, but before Shippuden.

The rest of the movies take place after Shippuden begins.

For the most part the specials and movies really don't matter

when you watch them because there is little to zero canon

material in them. But just to be on the "safe" side

watch the first Naruto movie before the Sasuke Retrieval arc

and watch the last two (Part One) Naruto movies during the Fillers.

A special is when you have a longer episode (usually the length of two) instead of the normal short one. They're basically just longer episodes of the same story, so they go in line with the other episodes.

The movies usually go separate from the main storyline, so you can watch them anytime you like. There are some features that are in the movies regarding where in the series you are. For example, in the first movie it takes place near the beginning/middle of the series. But in the second one it's after sasuke leaves the village (sorry if spoiler).

Well cartoon network plays the movies sometimes for action flicks.
