My personal laptop has been getting progressively slower over the past year or so. I finally went around to try cleaning out all the junk gathered on it and it has improved somewhat, but the CPU usage is still very high.

I have an Acer Aspire 5741G laptop, running on the pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium. The CPU would wobble around 60-80% before, now it's lower at around 30% when idle, which I think is still very high. Most of that seems to be taken up by the WDBackupEngine process. I have an external HDD from WD, which is used as a backup of my laptop hard drive, as well as storage for the folders from my old computer.

Is there any way to set up the WD software so that it is not always at work? For example, to only make backups once a week or even less frequently.

Are there any other things I can do as well to improve my laptop performance? So far I have done the following:

>Gone through my programs and deleted the ones I no longer use or do not recall installing (I checked to make sure they were not something necessary for the laptop to work first)

>Cleaned the corresponding system folders that were left over after a reboot

>Cleaned & defragmented the disk

>I have also switched to a simple theme and

>Removed some unnecessary startup items in hopes of making the computer start faster (keyword is some, because I am still not exactly sure how to identify the ones necessary for startup)

This turned out to be a two-part question, but any help is much appreciated.

In class I worked a lot with using MatLab for making simulations and short programs, so I already know how it works. I have also had a class in Java a while ago. However, the current program I need to use is based around Visual Basic, which I do not believe I have ever worked with. What are the main differences between Visual Basic and MatLab?

I am intending to go through tutorials starting from scratch, however I would still like to know what to expect.

I use a rather old version of uTorrent (2.2.1), if that matters, and was wondering if it was possible to create a rule that would work similar to this:

"If there is one or more active download, limit the upload rate to X.

Otherwise, the upload rate is unlimited."

I don't mind too much changing the rates in setting manually every so often, since I don't download much anyways. But if this is possible to implement in some way, that would be perfect.

If this isn't possible on the version I have, is it possible on newer versions? What about other clients? Please say how that is done if you are suggesting a different version or client.

I have a tablet running on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Recently had to reset my tablet so I now have to re-install all of my apps, however I don't typically have access to wireless internet and when I do it's not for very long. I know that I can find apps on Google Play Store, select "install" on the page and get the app the next time my tablet connects to the web.

The problem is that it will take a long time for me to install all of the apps I had on it before the reset so I'm not sure how long it will take before I will finally have all of them back & working properly. Is there a way to install those apps without connecting my tablet to the internet?

I'd like to only have to set up the wifi-based apps (like skype, email, etc. apps that require online confirmation) when I get wifi, but already have the apps installed before then. Is this at all possible without violating any rules/policies?

A few days ago I tried to install a program but it messed up while the installation window only started up. Instead of the usual window with prompts about the installation I got a blank window. I could no close this window - the "window" would disappear from the bar at the bottom, but the blank square on my desktop remained.

The first time I restarted the computer, but once it loaded up again the white window opened up again, and I tried to close it using the task manager. In the Application tab there was nothing listed - only the programs which start running as soon as the computer switches on (WhatPulse and notes). I was able to find the program under Processes and stop it running from there, but the next time I switched the computer on the window returned.

I tried removing the original installation file, ran searches and combed through the folders on my computer but could not find anything related to the program I tried installing. The white window still pops up. It seems to appear as soon as I connect to the internet though, not immediately as the computer loads up.

Is there any way for me to remove this window? It does not seem to interfere with anything (other than being an big blank space when I minimize all other windows) and my antivirus does not seem to find anything suspicious (I use Kaspersky and ran a full check-up).

I'm considering the idea of buying a printer, however I really don't know much when it comes to selecting what will fit me best. My main issue is that printing is expensive and I imagine I will be using the printer a lot.

I am looking for something to print text documents mainly, not so much anything with color.

As for cartridges, either refill-cartridges or regular ones are fine, but I'm looking for something that would be most cost-efficient. I know printer ink is expensive, would a printer using toner suit me better? I don't mind any kind of printing, as long as the printed documents don't ruin as easily as those from an ink jet printer.

If you suggest refill-cartridges, I would not be able to refill them myself - I would have to find someone else to do it for me. That will count into the cost of using the printer as well (I live in the Netherlands and unfortunately do not know the prices).

These things considered, what types, or even specific brands/models, would you recommend for me?

So I'm currently living alone since getting into college, and here's my issue:

Back at home, when I was too lazy too cook in the morning (most of the time) I would just heat some stuff from last night in the microwave. We had an oven but my dad was the only one who used it since it messed up a lot.

Now I'm living alone, and in the kitchen there is no microwave, but there is a mini-oven which I don't know how to use. I'm usually in a hurry in the morning, and prefer to cook more in the evening to then heat up the extra food for breakfast.

Can I do this with an oven? How should I do it? Which containers are ok to use in the oven? There is a baking pan and a few other things but I don't know their names in English. Would it be ok to make a bag out of tin foil? Should I buy something else? I don't think regular plates are okay? Which settings should I use? The oven has knobs for temperature (70-230 C), time and heating (above, below, both).

I've seen some of these a while back, but never found out what they were called.

You have a rectangular ruler made of plastic, which has two large circles cut out in it. There are also small plastic gears that come with it, which have tiny holes in them in a line or curve.

What you do with it is you take on of the gears and put it in one of the "holes" on the ruler, take a colored pen, and use it to move the gear. As you spin the gear, it draws different flower-looking shpaes. they are very geometrical, and using different holes in the gears give different patterns.

I've been searching the internet, and anywhere I find links to the episodes, they're all just spoken english. But it's hard to hear, and so if there aren't subs, I miss half of what is being said :(

So I was wondering, if there are any websites out there which have the episode subbed in english? They don't have to *speak*in english as well, I just want there to be subs and for them to be in english.

Oh, and the other problem is that I can't see videos from Veoh, since they blocked my country.

Basically, when I go to some pages, sometimes you have a background which takes up the whole screen, and when you scroll down, the text and buttons and everything move the way the normally would, but the background picture stays as it is. I was just wondering how you could do that, so I can use it for my page.

I've searched around, but the only downloads were by separate chapters. I would really prefer if I could download the manga a volume at a time, or other blocks of compiled chapters. If you know a download which lets you download everything at once, I'd really love that. It just takes ages to download by chapter.

I think it was about a year ago, or maybe less, I came across this fan-made trailer of the 6th harry potter. I remember that it was long, and also really impressive.

After the green screen with the text that it was 'approved for all audiences' the trailer had the read WB logo, and then the hogwarts express on the track, then it was a shot from outside one of the windows when it wa raining outside, then showed sname's face and dumbledore's voice saying 'will be our new dada teacher' after that I don't remember, but it had clips from th 4th film where harry was running in the maze, but so that you coudn't realy tell. I also remember there was a bit where you could hear dunbledore saying 'if i tell you to hide, you will do so. if i tell you to flee you will obey. if i tell you to leave me and save yourself you *will* do as i tell you". Later there was also a clip that was in green colors of what looked like dumbledore and harry walking on a narrow shore (the view was from above). i think there was a clip where hermione was shaking her head crying, after dombledore died, but that's all I remember.

does anyone know of a trailer which kind of resemble the one i described?

so basically, what does the 123 stand for? What do I write if I live in a flat?

What does 'CO' stand for?

And why doe it first have Netherlands but then in the next line it says USA?

But I need a recorder, and in the stores it only gives the storage size in Mb or Gb, and I want to know how much TIME of recordings it can store. I'm not interested in pictures or videos. At school, for a language class presentation we're going to sing this son, and i have to find the karaoke version so that we can sing without the main voice. I've been searching, but the ones that fit you have to pay for and the ones that are free are with Joe Dassin singing it. Is there no free karaoke on the internet?
