Why do most men lie in relationships?

they lie to avoid the drama. Something simple like smoking a cigarette could cause a woman to go crazy. If he loves her but has a habit, then he'll lie everytime. Usually he lies because the woman he's with is controlling. It's about what she wants. As long as it doesn't harm her, then she shouldn't care.

A better question would be, "Why do most *people* lie in relationships." You could even leave off the "in relationships" part, because you don't have to be in a relationship to lie. People lie all the time.

I hear that the #1 reason people lie is because they wish to avoid confrontation. I'm not saying that's a good reason, nor that it justifies lying. It's just supposedly the biggest reason.

Most people do forgive other people's lies, but lying does damage trust. Therefore, having a pattern of lying is a very bad idea because then people won't trust you.

How do you know that most men lie in relationships? Sounds like you have been unlucky, or perhaps you bring out the liar in them. Don't see why we should forgive them, unless the lie was necessary to a particular situation, so as to save someone else's feelings.

I do believe it is a habit from childhood, trying to impress our friends, women often forgive us because they know we can't help it and you are all so understanding, and we love you so much that we still want to impress you, so sometimes we will tell a fib or two, but not all the times, I hope you believe all this because I have never told a girl a lie, (why am I red faced saying this)

Guys usually lie to avoid an uncomfortable confrontation about something they think is silly, but think it will probably explode into something huge.

Women don't forgive them because if they are going to lie about little things, then what's to stop them from lieing about big things.

I wouldn't necessarily say "most" men lie in relationships but yes, some do , as well as some women, some things are unforgivable to some people. It depends on each person weather or not the other person has commited an "unforgivable" act

I don't know why men lie but women don't forgive easily. Once you damage your relationship with lies it makes the person man or woman lose trust, respect, and it will damage what you have if your caught up in lies. And one lie breeds more and its not good to be caught up in that.

It was beat into my head that it is NEVER okay to lie, and even when asked one of those questions like "do I look good in this" and the answer is no, you don't lie and say yes. You don't necessarily answer the exact question either of course, but DO NOT LIE. So of course I expect those around me to have the same basic courtesy. But of course I have only found men who are the same as in your question. They lie about the little things, they lie about the big things. It sucks. I am teaching my son the same as I was taught, and even when he is grown I will expect him to not tell lies. It is one of my biggest pet peeves. I don't care if you are male female or alien!

Because men have many things to hide! Women can choose to forgive or not depending on their situations.
