i donated a 500cc blood last year for a young boy i don't even know, i worked in the hospital years ago so i am used to needles and all. it is not dangerous as what some people think the pain is like a pinch on your skin and it does not last long. helping others unselfleshly is the best feeling of all.

I have been donanting blood every three to six months for just over 10 years, excluding when I was pregnant and breastfeeding. I have even applied to donate platlates, but mine aren't wanted.
In return, after giving birth, I was dangerously ill to the point that I could of possibly died, and needed an emergancy op and a couple of blood transfusions.
You are tested to make sure you're fit enough to give blood every single time, all equipment is steralised. Giving blood saves lives, it doesn't endanger them.
Tips for giving blood, take glucose tablets, bananas and choclate for afterwards.
The combination of all three gives you both a quick and longer term energy boast. (just make sure you eat the other two items before you taste the choc. lol.)

Horrified?....No, not at all. In fact, I feel rather proud when I donate blood as it is a necessary process that is not dangerous and relatively painless. Not to mention the people whose lives are benefited from this simple action on your part.

1. It's necessary
2. It isn't dangerous.
And the answer to your question is NO. Before I had the kids I was a blood donor. When my step-son was back home in Turkey, his Uncle had a very nasty accident and needed blood. My son's blood was compatible, but also other cousins. He said, I'll give if you do. Which shamed them into donating. Lucky for the Uncle that I brought up his nephew.

It is one out of 50 things to do in my list before I am to die. I am not afraid of process, I am a bit concern about how long it will take for me to recover. I have to take care for my 3 kids by the way. But I am pretty sure i will donate my blood

I am a cancer RN and the amount of blood products we administer to our patients following chemotherapy is incredible. It is a necessary treatment for cancer. Blood donation saves lives. and you cannot understand the positive effect it has on a person if you are "horrified". by the thought of giving blood.
About 5 years ago, we had a Jehovahs Witness decline a blood transfusion. God did not grant him death, he simply made him a vegetable who will live out his last years in a nursing home urinating on himself and having fecal incontinence, being a burden to his family and totally dependent on the welfare system for his care instead of living a life to the fullest and being able to spend time with his children.

donating could save someones life, so if you have good blood then share it!!!!
i can't donate because i have a blood clotting disorder.
there are thousands of us who would donate if only we could.
it's not dangerous at all. safety codes are top notch for blood donating.
so don't be afraid, you hardly feel a thing and you get to sit and chill for a while without anyone to bug you. and you get a free snack and drink. enjoy!!
good luck.

For god's sake of course it is if you want to save someones life.
Think of all the good that can be done by donating blood, as this will outweigh the bad.
Stop being a wimp..............im sure if you needed blood you would have no problem being stuck to receive it.

I'm not horrified by the idea. In fact, I'd do it myself if I wasn't squeamish about the needles and the amount of blood. A pint? Why, that's very nearly an armful!

I donated blood regularly for years. I only stopped when a medical condition caused problems.
I have also had blood transfusions, so I have reason to be thankful to donors.
