Is there such a thing as "jungle shoes" similiar to Army jungle boots?

My husband walks several miles a day at work. He cannot seem to find a dress shoe that is lightweight, comfortable or wicks away moisture when his feet sweat. We both served in the Army & the jungle boots have those qualities. I cannot seem to find a style of shoe that does the same thing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I placed this under military since it does not seem to fit any other category.Thanks.

I think I walk several miles a day just between my Company and Battalion. I have the same sort of problem with my feet. I have a couple of recommendations:

    (1) He needs to look at what socks he's using. Moisture-wicking socks with antibacterial properties with silver thread, for instance, are a big thing right now. Goto a site like http://rangerjoes.com/ and have him buy a selection of the newest socks out there and try a few out.

    (2) You didn't clear up whether he has some sort of dress restriction (i.e. must they be black? Must they have dress soles?) but I'll work on the assumption that he doesn't. Goto a site like http://www.copshoes.com/c-police-shoes.html and have him try Thorogoods or Altamas (I think you recognize the brands if you're prior service). They don't look as sneaker-ish as the Bates, for instance.

As for feet not sweating, you know they do even in jungle boots. I just kicked off a pair of Altamas not 5 minutes ago and know that proper foot maintenance is essential. If the comfort problem is a factor, then have him get insoles. I use these http://www.drscholls.com/product.aspx?prodid=28 because they will contour to my heel, won't slip, and don't push my toes forward. You can also get custom insoles if your husband has instep problems. Let me know if he needs a URL link to that.

    Good luck.
