Why do we write 2011 AD instead of 2,011 AD?
Normally when writing a four digit number a comma is placed between the first and second numbers. However people rarely if ever seem to insert the comma when writing a four digit year (such as 2011). Why is this?
2 AntwortenWords & Wordplayvor 1 JahrzehntExcel question: How do you change 485m into a number...?
I want to download some financial information into Excel, and be able to sort through it. Unfortunately for some categories instead of giving a simple number (say 485,000,000) the downloaded information lists a number followed by millions or billions (ie 485m) and Excel doesn't automatically sort this information properly. Is there any way to get Excel to convert a number like 3.2B or 485M into a real number?

I've been studying stock options lately, and happened to glance at QQQQ's. I noticed that two different listings for the 43 calls for this month (QQQCQ & UQQCQ) that these had different prices and had fluctuated by different percentage amounts of Fri. I'm trying to figure out why. Anyone know what the difference between the two is?

Note: this is a halfway serious question. I see a lot of people living more and more of their lives online on places like Myspace (this also goes for folks who spent sixteen hours at a stretch playing world of warcraft) and I can't help but wonder when (and it probably is a when, not an if) someone figures out how to actually plug someone directly into a computer how many people will simply choose to live their lives entirely online in some artificial construct. Thoughts?

The US Postal Service successfully delivered a letter with only the folling information on it:
HILL
JOHN
MASS
Whats the name of the recipient and where did the letter go (city/state)? First person to give the complete correct answer gets ten points.
(Hint: you'll get a full name a city and a state, which is Massachusetts, but that's not exactly giving away much.)

I was playing around on Yahoo finance's stock screener and noticed that the institutional ownership for some companies is well over 100%. (Indeed there seemed to be one company called Hafmark financial with 484% institutional ownership.) I was curious to know how this was possible. Thanks in advance--Adam J
