Should the USA change our vote counting process from the current plethora of systems from state to state, to 1 uniform system?

I am not talking about the electoral college ( which I am still against) I am talking about a uniform election process. For example, the current system has different deadlines for absentee ballots.

The problem is that you really can't.

The Constitution does not give the federal government direct control over elections.  Instead, that is delegated to the states.

There are some limited exceptions to that rule.  The federal government can legislate to assure equal treatment of voters and to protect voting rights.  The federal government gets to set when the electors for the electoral college are chosen and when they meet.  Lastly, the federal government can regulate the manner of Congressional elections.  (Because most states do not want to hold separate elections for state and local offices, this last power may give an in for federal regulation but conservatives will scream holy hell if the federal government tried to set uniform counting standards for federal elections.)

No.  Absolutely not.  Take nothing from the states, including their preferred voting process.  If a state wants to change it, let them address it internally.
