Was this wrong to tell him? What would you guys do?

Okay so there are these two guys that like me and They are best friends( carl and shane). Me and Shane like each other a lot. Shane never knew carl liked me; carl knew Shane liked me a lot/ wants to date me.  Carl told both of us that we didn't like each other so we stopped talking for a bit. 
In that time, carl kept asking me to be his girlfriend/ flirting with me. He knew Shane still liked me.

Me and Shane started talking again recently about why we stopped talking, and I told him that his best friend was flirting with and trying to date me. I felt kind of bad when I told him because he was hurt and he doesn't want to talk to him and  that was supposed his best friend. Idk. Should I have told him? What would you guys do?

You did the right thing. Carl is a bad friend and Shane deserves to know he is being lied to and manipulated. You aren't responsible for other people's friendships. How he chooses to handle Carl is his business. Personally I think this speaks well of his character, he was willing to believe you when you told him you were being harassed and cut the guy off. Consider the matter settled and let it go.

When my friends and I like the same girl, I challenge them to ask her out on a date.
If they don't... I ASK HER OUT.

Most guys are CHICKEN and Fear Rejection. I fear it also, but I don't let it stop me.
My friend had his shot.

It's JUST A DATE, if he wants too, he can still ask her out.  
She is NOT mine, just because we dated.  
Some girls ARE NOT worth a 2nd date.
