Is it too late for me to improve my health state?
I am 16 year old male.
As a kid I ate very unhealthy. I know most children do but for me it really was bad basically Mcdonalds and fast food EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.
And as a young teenager I still ate horribly and never exercised.
I was skinny-fat up until 14/15 where I decided I wanted a change.
So I slimmed up.
But only since the beginning of this year have I started truly eating healthy and exercising right.
The problem is diseases such as diabetes run in my family and I have heard you can already not only get diabetes young but also can already get heart diseases even if they don't run in your family.
I just feel like it's too late and in the next few years I probably might get it.
Will changing now be able to delay health issues and problems from happening?
Because thing is my whole life 15 years terrible, terrible diet too much sugar, fat etc. 3 cokes a day level sh*t....
Am I screwed?
I am now in much better shape physically I am lean and slightly fit and athletic etc. and eat healthy etc. but it still feels terrible knowing I use to be so terrible.
It is the diabetes I am most worried about it runs in the family so it is very likely I will get it.
But I have heard diabetes can be a lifestyle thing and you can delay it until later on in life.
But I just feel like it's too late for that now and I'll probably get it around 20.
If I am 16 and eat healthy and exercise right for the rest of my life will I be able to combat it?

You're totally NOT screwed. 16 is still so very young. Focus on getting healthy. Don't worry so much about what illnesses you may or may not end up with. If you start now, you can help ward off or delay such illnesses. When it comes to health I believe it's never too late to turn things around. If you think of yourself as being screwed regardless, you may end up using it as an excuse not to eat healthier and exercise more, etc. So be careful not to think like that and know that you can become a healthier person, especially when you are 16 and have time on your side.

There's no guarantee whether you'll develop health problems or not, but it's never too late to try and be healthier. It may help delay diabetes and heart conditions, but that's just my guess. I recommend just keep doing what you need to do to stay in shape and consult your doctor regularly. Hope everything works out for you.
