Which fish for a 29 gallon tank? Angelfish, goldfish, or an undecided type of cichlid?
Hi there! This week I plan to take advantage of Petco's $1 per gallon sale. I believe I'm going to get a 29 gallon tank, but I may end up getting a 40 gallon because of the sale. My question is, should I get goldfish for my tank, angelfish, or, I may get cichlids, but I'm not sure what type I would get. Also, I am an experienced fish keeper. This would be my largest tank yet, though, so any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Goldfish need a minimum of 25-30 gallons for ONE goldfish (and that's only for starters). If you are having only the Angelfish - then no more then 3 in the tank. Personally I'd go for a nice assortment of guppies (4-5), neons or zebra danios (5-7) or barbs (3-4) or swordfish/mollies (5-6)
Total of about 20 fish (not including the angels). Angels need to be by themselves.

Don't go to that pet store do you want to know why you're local petco has the 1 dollar per gallon because no one are buying those fish because they have problems so I would go to a different lfs such as pet smart and I would get African cichlids or oscars

I say cichlids in a 30+ I love cichilids as they are very intelligent and fascinating. Semi aggressive so maybe just a species tank.

Fancy goldfish. Im getting mine a 40 gallon breeder! They are so awesome and having amazing personality
