Would you rather receive unopened Christmas presents or buy your own Christmas presents?

All my life, I've always looked forward to opening presents on Christmas morning, wondering the night before what good things I'll get! But this year, at the age of 30, my parents decided to do things differently by taking me and my brother to the outlet mall and saying, "Pick out whatever you'd like for Christmas. This way, we'll know that the clothes fit and you'll like the style and we won't have to deal with returns and exchanges."

Actually, I did have one classmate in grade school whose parents did that - they said to him and his siblings, "OK, kids, here's some money, just get whatever you want for Christmas!"

So, would you rather:

a) Receive "surprise" presents that you open on Christmas morning (which is the norm for most families, I imagine)

OR

b) Have your parents take you to the store to pick out your presents?

Does anyone even do option (b)?
